I consider myself a white (caucasian) Armenian European, my father was from western Armenia and mother from eastern Armenia, they never considered themselves middle eastern. Below is a little info, I am sure if you search the internet you will find much more. Anatolia is considered near east, not middle east.
You can argue this to death if you wish, the only Armenians I talked to that thought the same as you were from Syria, not Armenia.
