  1. Novelist and journalist, Aris Janigian will be at the Central Library in Downtown Los Angeles on July 9 at 7:00pm. He will discussing his new book called Riverbig with a moderator. I went to a similar discussion (part of the same series) for Mark Arax and his newest book. They are quite interesting to attend. http://www.lfla.org/aloud/calendar/?month=...2009&day=09
  2. The Cause is playing at The Troubadour (in West Los Angeles) on this Sunday the 28th at 10:00pm. You should go.
  3. No, I do not know anyone from Home Made Devices. I know the band leader of The Cause. And I never got to see the show on the 24th because when I got there it was sold out.
  4. Karin Tatoyan is playing tomorrow with her band at the Echo at 10pm. If you live in L.A. and haven't seen her perform yet, you should. Everyone that goes is always impressed. Even people that are at the show to see other acts.
  5. The Cause is playing again at the Troubadour with Visa, Echocell, Sebu (unfortunately), and a band called Home Made Devices on the 24th. I saw The Cause last night and they're a tight band. You'll enjoy their performance. Visa is quite entertaining too. I saw them at The Knitting Factory a while back.
  6. There used to be two pentacostal churches. One of them disappeared when their tongues began falling off. The second one disappeared because they all got eaten by snakes.
  7. The Cause is playing at the Viper Room tonight. http://www.myspace.com/thecause Check it out.
  8. Another Karin Tatoyan show at the Echo in Echo Park. The Echo is a great sounding venue so I wouldn't miss it if you like that style. She's on at 9:30.
  9. Someone named Rudy Kalfayan (www.myspace.com/rudykalfayan) is playing in Hermosa Beach at a club called Saint Rocke (http://www.saintrocke.com/) at 6:30 tonight.
  10. Barrett Yeretsian will be at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood on December 13 with his band Lunar Sway. http://www.myspace.com/lunarsway
  11. Shahen of the Great Deceivers is in another band called Fish Circus. They are very strange and very entertaining. They're playing The Knitting Factory in Hollywood on December 9. http://www.myspace.com/fishcircus
  12. Karin is also playing at the Echoplex in Silver Lake on December 2.
  13. The Great Deceivers (a King Crimson tribute band with a Shahen on bass) will be at Spaceland in Silver Lake on December 20. They have been getting very good reviews. The musicianship is supposed to be great and the arrangements are surprisingly faithful to the original music. Karin Tatoyan (if you like Bjork or Denali or Radiohead or Massive Attack, check her out) will be at The Scene in Glendale on November 19 and at Spaceland on December 16.
  14. The creator and voice of the new animated HBO TV series "The Life & Times of Tim" is Steve Dildarian. I do not know if he is or is not Armenian. I guess he could be Persian or Indian. But I did look up "Dildarian" and it was listed on a website that listed Armenian surnames. Pretty fun show, by the way. Check it out.
  15. Do all the different types of Armenians a favor and don't express yourself in a public setting ever again.
  16. That's ridiculous. I'm assuming you would also alienate people with the last names Istanbulian, Israelian, etc. who are as Armenian as anyone else? That's ridiculous. You think you're making some patriotic political statement but you aren't. It's immature. Solely based on names with very vague and unimportant origins?

    Satellite

http://www.myspace.com/satellitepoland Satellite is a Polish progressive rock band formed recently out of the ashes of another Polish progressive rock band named Collage which was active from the mid 80's until the late 90's. Robert Amirian joined Collage as a vocalist in '93. For a while after Satellite formed he played bass and sang but now he is strictly vocals. I saw Satellite play at Baja Prog 2007. They're a good solid band with some interesting music. Robert Amirian is half Armenian and half Polish and alluded to his Armenian heritage on stage at Baja Prog. Check them out! Even more info here though the sit hasn't been updated in years: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/3313/Collage/
  20. Looks like I need to go to either the Czech Republic or Estonia.
