Bear in mind that Welsh speakers account for less than half the population of Wales; also bear in mind that this ethnic division really isn't a big deal for most of us here With regards to Blair, perhaps you think he stopped being Scottish when he stopped hanging out with politicians whom you like? Sorry to disabuse you of your pre-conceptions but the Welsh Assembly has English-descended members (just as Wales has English-descended citizens). And Tony Blair's Scottish. The reason for his cut-glass Anglo accent is that he went to a very posh private school and had elocution lessons. Furthermore, your "Welsh Buddies" are members of the same political party as Tony Blair. Both the Welsh assembly and the UK parliament are held by the Labour Party. V
