  1. What was the cause of Daniel Pearl's beheading? Weren't the burned bodies of the American civilians being hung off the bridges and celebrated BEFORE the prisoner abuses were made public? The soldiers who participated in the disgusting behavior were trained to kill, but you are just a civilian thousands of miles away from war and bloodshead. Yet you say you'd do far worse to those soldiers had that been your father being treated that way. What does far worse mean, beheading a human being, perhaps? Why do we expect the people directly involved in gunbattles to show human decency, when people like us get the desire to do "far worse" while sitting in our nice comfy homes and watching a few pictures on televison? Wars suck, they bring out the savage animal in humans. But before we go on condemning all of America, let's remember that it was also Americans who brought the prisoner abuse to light, Americans who made it public for the whole world to know, and Americans who are outraged and asking for answers. That's still more democratic than anything most of the Middle East has ever known. Too bad for them and the US that they have all the oil we all want so badly. Otherwise they'd be left alone to handle their Saddams any way they liked (and we'd be meddling in some other country's people's lives, trying to bring them "freedom and democracy").
  2. Congrats to Sevan, who I'm guessing is your brother. Also, your parents picked great names for their kids, it looks like.
  3. Naah, it'd be the same, except they'd be replaced by equally vicious Chinese, Koreans, Russians, Indonesians, Columbians, for example. Take out the current superpowers and they'd soon be replaced by new ones. Then we'd have a new set of nations playing the same game. But feel free to take out as many segments of turks as you'd like. Hard to say no to that one
  4. Gevo, your question brings up a new topic, but I'll answer anyway (how does one do quotes, btw.? I'm message board challenged). Some personality traits that make men unattractive: Extreme arrogance is always an automatic. The "I'm too rich/hot/smart for my own good" attitute. The other extreme is also a turn-off. It's one thing to be shy, but the total lack of self-esteem that some of our Armenian guys have is so sad. And unless you're a little puppy, sad is not attractive. I know so many decent guys who deem themselves unworthy because they don't think they're rich enough, hot enough or educated enough. Complete lack of any "Armenianness". Speak the language, know the history, listen to the music or SOMETHING. And I have more respect for the third-generation 1/4 Armenians who put an effort in familiarizing themselves with the culture than those self-hating full-blooded Armenians who bash their own kind worse than any racist odar ever could. Criticisms are ok, but full-on bitter hate is ugly and very unattractive. I'm guessing I don't even have to mention the thugsta/gangsta/pimpsta/mafia or the God-awefull rabiz types, because those are a given -- a big fat NO! There's probably more, but I can't think of them at the moment. And one important point I'd like to stress is that, as someone who's done going through the teen rebellious phase and has lived among odars long enough, just being Armenian makes the man already a hundred times more attractive to me than any hot 6'2 blue-eyed playgirl worthy anglo boy. The turn-offs just happen to subtract from that attractiveness
