He came on at the half-way mark of the infamous Uptown Comics show. He blew everyone out the box!!! We were stunned. he dropped 3 poetic works, and I must say he was an instant favourite of the crowd. Full of emotion, fire, irony, incredible word-plays, politically-charged, straight to the point and in your face. We could not help but realise that we were ALL being blessed and schooled at the same time. Plus, his tone of voice and delivery were sharp like a Ginsu Dayum!!!!!!! Thanks everyone! PS: don't sleep on this powerful and moving talent!!!

The "house music" that you hear on most radio shows worldwide (save NYC) is considered commercial, or even euro dance. Granted, the radio show that I am a part of here in Montreal plays only underground house and affiliated genres of music: brazilian, afro-latin, jazz, nu-jazz, motown, philly soul, gospel, disco... I've even played some duduk by Djivan Gasparyan on my radio show and in some of my mix CD's.... Real, proper house music is still very underground, so-to-speak. It is a gorgeous form of music. Uplifting, musical, and inspirational..........house music is a bridge to my inner depths. House music actually allowed me to discover the beauty in other forms of music, including armenian folk and duduk. House is so musical, and is heavily influenced by so many other genres of music, that REAL house in itself can be considered as world music... If you can feel it the way I do, then you have been blessed by God. If you don't, then it just means that you have been blessed by another form of music, or art, or anything else for that matter. I respect everyone's passions in life. As long as you're "feeling" something, then you're good. God bless.

I came on this website once to ask a question about duduk music, not realising that I had been mentioned on another thread altogether Anyways, thanks for the info. And BTW, I was ranked #11 on the 2003 top DJ list, not the 2002 list (I wasn't even on the 2002 list........LOL)!!!!!

I am highly knowledgeable with regards to house music, rap music, motown, soul, philly soul, nu-jazz, etc... A few years ago, I attended an Armenian funeral. At the funeral home, there was music being played in the background. It must have been the saddest, most emotional, yet absolutely gorgeous piece of aural artistery I have ever heard. I was proud, baffled, bewildered, and completely abacked. The song was just crying out at me. I asked the owner of the establishment what it was, but he was completely useless in this department. I had nothing to go on. Most Armenian music that I've heard is festive-style vocal songs that we hear at weddings and such. I am not a big fan of those (although I will play that style at my wedding one day (God willing).....but that's another topic ). I am searching for those Armenian gems and masterpieces that will make you cry. Songs of mourning. Songs of sorrow. Songs of Our Struggle..... Instrumentals please. Any help would be highly appreciated. (PS: also looking for any audio documentaries/speeches about anything related to Armenia....especially the Genocide)
