The technique used is called "Glottochronology" and is similar to DNA analysis that connects animal groups by looking at their genetic similarities. According to an article from today's LA Times, the technique remains hotly debated among many linguists. This is even more cirucumstantial evidence that the "Anatolia" origins theory is more sound than the "Kurgan horseman" from the Russian steppes theory. The full article is in the journal Nature. I was at an event this last June 6, where this particular doctor was honored by an address from George Deukmejian, whom I respect tremendously. I did perceive this doctor to be somewhat laconic, but otherwise courteous. Perhaps, that which we want from others, meaning a sense of accommodation and warmth, is that which we need to personify ourselves, first and foremost. There is an equitable maxim in American jurisprudence that says: He who seeks equity must do equity. In Christian terminology, the same idea translates into: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. On the note of miracles, they are ever-occurring and ever-present. The only thing that is missing is the state of mind to see them. I think one of the blessings of this day and age is that metaphysics and physics need not be deemed to be mutually exclusive reflections anymore. There is a lot of good reading out there that shows that the organizing principle behind any formulated entity is not local to the physicality of the entity. If you move your fingers to type here, you can look and analyze all the various bio-chemical mechanisms that process the mind command to type, but you will never be able to dissect your way into finding the decision-maker to make your fingers type. Epiphenomenalism is dead granted modern science, so is "hard objectivity". Might as well enter the ring - I'm not that patient a spectator. AM

I'm rather new to this forum, so, I don't quite know if my comments on this thread are welcome or not. Nevertheless, the following may shed some Light on the apparent dispute. In Esoteric Christian terminology, the word "judgment" in and of itself is value free. It depends on the state of mind of the person doing the "judging". If the state of mind is that of being informed by the Holy Spirit, often, it is called the "Judgment of the Holy Spirit" and it is a constructive, healing mental act; however, if the state of mind is being informed by the ego, it is called the equivalent of a "projection" and is the "negative" judgment that is spoken of by JC in the New Testament, which is quite blind. The bottom line with any exchange is that it is to have a healing result. What are the results you're looking for? Personal disputes are a fact of everyday life; they should not be white-washed. However, nor should they be empowered to persist, if one can resolve them, or if one can attempt to resolve them. I don’t mean to sound like Rodney King now, but, it seems to me that as Armenians, we can use all the unity we can muster now, if we are to further thrive in this world - the potential reflector of Heaven. Use your personal disputes as a mechanism to further unify us. AM

Hello, I'm not quite sure if this is the right place to post this or not, but I'm looking for the descendants of my ancestors, who were the Shikahers of Van. My maternal grandfather's name is Artashes Manoukian, and he relocated to Salmast, Iran, after the Genocide. His mom's maiden name was Shikaher. I believe that his keri's (mother's brother's) family was in Lebanon at one time, but that they are in England now. My mother and aunts seem to have lost touch with that side of the family, so, any information or direction/suggestions, would be much appreciated. AM
