You could use a ram pump, depending on the river's current and the amount of rise you'll need. These operate on water pressure, not electricity or wind. Is the river water safe? I'd doubt it in europe! Windmill operated pumps are still made(aeromotor, I think)or are available used that will pump water from a well to a tank house. The water is then gravity fed into the domestic water system. Every farmhouse in Fresno used to have one. Hope this helps!

Hello! I'd like to know if anyone here has any information about John Garo, who was one of the pioneers of photography in the United States, working between the 1890s and 1930s in Boston. He was, I understand, the first American photographer to have an exhibition on London and was a member of the elite Boston Art Scene durign that era, as well as being Yousef Karsh's mentor. His negative were supposedly destroyed after his death under mysterious circumstances. I'd like to know if anyone has any of the original photographs, or any other information concerning John Garo. Thanks!
