CheekY
Ok what do you people think about the "hnazand es?" that the priest asks the girl during the Armenian wedding ceremony (and the male "Ter es?"). Do you think it should be asked? Because nowadays (almost) no one is "hnazand" and it's like lying in the house of God. And besides, do you accept that the Bible says the man is the head and the woman must "hnazandvel" to him. Why so .... (can't find the word lol) towards women? Were/are we THAT evil that we need to be controlled?? lol Edited September 22, 2004 by CheekY
Maral
I don't think that it's because they think we're evil...it's all about men having control over women.Pathetic.

Were/are we THAT evil that we need to be controlled?? lol style_images/master/snapback.png I think you may have misunderstood the point of that. The Bible does say that women should submise to their husbands, but it also says for the husbands to love and cherish their wives an not ask of them what is not Godly and rightouse. Also, the Bible makes it apoint that though the man should be the "head" of the home, this does not mean th woman has no say in household or other affairs. It is made clear that when you are married, Man and Wife are one under the holly matrimony of God, and therefore both are responsible for eachother. The Bible only refrences to the man being the head of the house for the reason of the man being the one to speak for the house outside of it.. as in what goes on inside is dealth with and agree upon with huband and wife, and what goes out is what both want.. The point is, Women are not degraded in the Bible... Infact women are the ones gifted with the ability to continue life.. Man and Woman are one.. end of story.. Arpa
Yeah I do remember that there was such a thread, and I have thought about it recently. I don’t think they use those phrases in America anymore. Do they still use them in the ME countries? Recently I attended a wedding in the St. Gayaneh Church in Ejmiatsin, the couple were highly educated professionals. I did hear the celebrant priest ask those questions, “Aghchik@s hnazand es? And to the groom; Zavak@s knik tststel gites? :) No, no. How silly. I made up the last one. Yes the groom was asked “Ter es”? Of course the groom will be “ter/lord/owner. You don’t believe me? Will they not be known as Ter yev Tikin Forumian? Or better yet; “Ter yev aghakhin….”?
