Todays armenian music is in need some serious HELP!

I can't stand armenian music of today, like pop and new recorded stuff...

some are good but the quality is far from good, of music that is sampeled ARMENIAN.

I see no other option, I will take matters into my own hands, and create some good old fashioned armenian style music. I give you all my word.

Something new, something old and something invented.

Each style/genre of music is directed to a certain audience and increases if it becomes popular. Music changes as times change. Oh well, well can you do? Oh that's right take matters into your own hands. I got your back on that one. :) Edited by allarmeniangirl

Indeed, I just got the new 'Killer Rabiz' cd and it made me puke <_<

No wonder people think we're Turks, when even our music is beginning to resemble theirs

i agree... the department is in dire need of help- and not to mention some actual singers- not some guy who gobbles like a turkey or aimlesly sounds like a rooster whose feathers are being pulled out ony by one..... and what really puzzles me is that some people actually listen to this barn yard music and bump it really loud when theyre driving- ahh the perplexion..... Lol...

So what instruments can you play and at the same time? :o

well.. it might seem impossible by simply reading this.. but you should see me.. im a talented guy.. not only can i stay on note very well but i can multi task my 2 hands to 4 instruments.. simoltaneiously.. its a wonder i tells yeah !! :P

i can play the trumbone, the piano, the flute and the guitar.. all at the same time.. that leaves us with who is gonna sing.. LOL...

so who will it be :)

Well... i guess nothing is stopping us from just listening to the very old traditional armenian music from our history.. except.. we dont.. l;ol.. and for the mosty part we take that music as art. but never care to listen to it :)

i mean.. that is really the "armenian" music we are talking about.. because all other types of armenian music has been heavily influenced by the russian and turkish cultures.. not to mention there is amix of ALL sorts of music in todays armo music.. but those are the main two.. :) thats how i see it anyways.. ...

Of course, the best solution is to listen to the old traditional armenian music,,,

and thats what I do anyway:) but what about the rest of the music...I want to listen to good modern armenian music as well, like dance music...

Im sure you can find it, the good stuff..but we need more, Like Nune has a great voice and the music is quite ok it has some quility to it anyway. Though some of it can be discussed, like she uses very" Arabic influenced tunes" in here music, and well the standard could be much higher.....

Anyway I have old armenian music on tape wich i usually listen to. It sounds a bit rosty <_< tapes doesnt last forever as you all are aware off..

I play the piano myself, and i started on a composition with an armenian Beat to it :P :osama:

Ill give you a sample clip soon :D

Guys and girls (o hi everyone!) do you really believe there's Armenian music these days?

Most of it, if not all, is genuine crap! Yes, that Nune too - in my opinion, at least everything I heard of her..

Point me to some nice Armenian music, please. I haven't heard anything living in Armenia for years. Well not counting Hakhverdian, but I haven't heard of him for a while, and his style can't be called truly Armenian I think...

There are different genres of music, folk music, pop, dance, classical.

So we have an armenian composer who wrote a opera for us, spendarian,

and as well as khachaturian etc. this is not folk music, but classical, though it is based on armenian folk music and history, like gayane and anosh opera.

it doesnt nesssarly mean that you have to compose folk music so that it will be called armenian.

for gods sake, Roben sings in armenian and is armenian, so his music is not swedish for all i know, but armenian.

How to be able to distinguish armenian music from other, then you would have to hear and study the music and eventually will learn, and automatically hear resemblence in for example the rythms, the actual melody, the structure of the music, so on. For example armenian music has had very big influence in the balkans, since centuries ago.

In Turkey most of the musicians and composers were actually armenians  , and the people who played military music, the maker of cymbals used in Turkish miltary marschs, like the famous brand Zildjian, wich they mostly like to call turkish!
