koko
I went to see The Navy band, when they were visiting sweden. They were playing at a festival for folk music, they usually have this festival every year in the city of Falun. People seemed to like them very much. ( I went to purchase their cd in a tent were they were selling cds from the bands who where playing there but their's was sold out!) Yep, everyone seemed to enjoy the consert, to bad it was raining... Edited March 23, 2004 by koko

Nakharar
Armenian Navy Band? Where is this navy stationed? Lake Sevan, lol? It's quite a catchy name though. Is their music any good?
koko
They were very a "original sounding" band. with armenian influcences + a little asian sounding stuff in my ears.. You just have to listen for youself
nairi
The first time I heard Arto T. and the Armenian Navy Band was on Dutch TV about four years ago. They were performing live in front of about six Dutch people who thoroughly enjoyed it, and so did I. In 2001, Arto worked on System of a Down's Toxicity for which they recorded the last track of that album together. I remember not being very impressed by that track. The mix was not done well. Later Serj Tankian and Arto worked on Serart. I haven't heard that yet.
Tranquilizer
Arto has some great works! I have been on his concert - exciting, original, not quite Armenian style, but very nice - fresh experiments with eastern motives... I don't understand much of what he is singing, sometimes I think he's just babbling and saying nonsense, but he surely got his style BTW, Serart stinks! gurgen
I think they're coming to play in Holland. Maybe I'll go see them, if I will, I'll let you know what I think

When I heard he and Serj were doing a CD together, I was excited but when I heard it, I was very disappointed. IMO, Arto's albums Onno and Tears Of Dignity are his best. Both were done with Ara Dinkjian and released only in Greece (I think) by Libra Music.
