Arpa
MiniHayastanHizzoner Mayor Harry During the turn of the century and until the 50s-60s Troy NY had been Hayastan away from Hayasatn. Then just as everywhere else there was mas emigration and spilling over the suburbs. In fact Gov. Deukmejian is a Trojan as well even if he was born right across the Hudson River. His contemporaries remember hims Kokie, a contraction of his given name Kourken/Gurgen.There may be very slow reversal of trends as many Armenians, some newcomers are readopting Troy. All three Armenian churches are in Troy, the Arm. Evangelical, Holy Cross of the Prelacy and St. Peter which at the present in Watervliet, right across the river moved out in early 70s when their neighborhood beacme blighted.I am sure you already know that Troy is the birthplace of Uncle Sam. http://home.nycap.rr.com/content/us_troy.html Harry a runoff;http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=...t_id=7021&rfi=6 Homepage;http://harry4troy.com/ Note. Deukmejian here remember him by the endearing nickname of "Corky" (a takeoff of his Armenian name Kourken/Gurgen)
