If you say this then you have no idea what the real arguement against the ten commandments is about.. .... and not in the context of this thread to discuss.. so try to find out ..

HINT: origins ;)

and.. how does it not hurt either spouse?? why get married if your gonna sleep around? it makes absolutely no snese.. oi mean sleeping around is bad enoguh.. now its ok to sleep around as your married.. wow.. i shoal not return here.. not this topic... its rediculouse.. and the outcome of very narrow minded (disguised under the term "open-minded" ideas.. and the affects of cultural relativism has spurred and made evident here.. its disgusting. )

bye bye

Gevo, can't you keep track of your own train of thought? You just said, what if I had an agreement with my spouse... And now you're talking of how it can't hurt.

And since when was other people's hurt your business? Or yours theirs, looking at the way you are upset at this whole thing? Everybody's going to carry on doing what they want and there's nothing you or your upset can do about it.

As for origins - hmmmmmm, Judaism? What are you trying to imply?

Extra, the purpose of marriage for us may be just that, but for others it may not be. What is to be done about that? At any rate, I don't like it being made an issue and put out in front of me - like Sip says - none of our business. Too much time spent with it already.

I agree... If it works for them then its fine. But it's just so wrong!!! :(

Yes, Sip, they've got a word for people like that.... They're called swingers. Who in their right mind would agree to such immoral act. People like that shouldn't get married.

OK, that's one hint for America's next conservative president - ban or annull marriage among swingers. Then come the wankers. Oops, that's not politically correct.

Extra, I think you should say it's unacceptable for you (and one should make these types of things clear in their relationships) rather than saying it's wrong, because how can something that works for people be wrong?

I am in good understanding of the vegetarian lifestyle, but I couldn't stand being told that my meat-eating is actually "wrong"... My business only.

What is the purpose of marriage? Its to love and spend the rest of your life with them right?  To raise a family with this individual. Why would anyone get married if they're going to commit adultery???

well, the way i see it marriage these days in the minds of a certain portion of the population is to have a good cook in the kitchen who will wash and clean and tidy up the place while being a wh*** in the bedroom! and you know wh**** can't demand monogamy! ahhh the hell with moral and human and family values...let's just all f*** everyone we're attracted to! hey no one owns our bodies but ourselves and we should be able to screw whomever we choose to whenever we want to...hey how about a nice big orgy? would that be "satisfying" and not "boring?" let's cross the gender lines and not "discriminate" our mates based on gender..or better yet let's go on and "bond" with our pets...sure we love our dogs or farm animals...screwing them is just another form of "love" and "expression"...yeah what's next? when is this nonsense going to stop?

life may not be absolute and there is a lot of gray area in it, but there sure as helllll is a big difference between good and bad, moral and immoral...

folks, what you're seeing here is a sad display of the "intelligent mind" gone mad and taking over! and developing a massive selfish ego! what are thoughts? illusions!!! that's all they are! yet sadly some people choose to BELIEVE every last damn thing that pops in their head!!

what is lacking here is spiritual nourishment! people especially in this country are deprived of spirituality, of the need to connect with something higher (regardless of religion)...until the spiritual aspect of humans is developed the pompous brain and intellect will continue to dominate irrationally!!!

there is nothing wrong with the ten commandments!!! damn right it should be displayed! and i'm all for that judge who chose NOT to remove it from outside his courtroom! more leaders like that are needed in this country who DARE to stand up for what they believe in!

i've had it with the extreme left and the extreme right! if something is wrong call it wrong!!! we have a society of whiners who like to make excuses for everything, create new lifestyles, form new lobbies and categories instead of owning responsibility!!

i'm guessing sometime during this century groups will arise that will fight for the "right" to marry their pets, their cousins, and perhaps multiple lovers at the same time!!

FREAKSSSS!!!

That judge should also put Leviticus 18:22 and the Five Pillars of Islam - I thought that was a free society out there (without the perversions, of course) -

"You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is abomination."

and

These are five duties that every Muslim is obliged to perform.

Shahada:

Shahada is the Muslim profession of faith:

"I witness that there is no god but Allah,

and that Muhammad is the prophet of Allah"

Muslims say this when they wake up in the morning, and just before they go to sleep at night.

Salat:

A prayer ritual performed 5 times a day by all Muslims over the age of 10.

Salat is very different from praying on the inspiration of the moment. A precise ritual is followed at 5 separate times of day which are set aside for devotion:

Between first light and sunrise

After the sun has passed the middle of the sky

Between mid-afternoon and sunset

Between sunset and the last light of the day

Between darkness and dawn

While an individual can pray on their own, Muslims prefer to perform Salat with others, as this demonstrates the unity of all Muslims.

Having specific times each day to be close to Allah helps Muslims remain aware of the importance of their faith, and the role it plays in every part of life.

Sawm:

Abstaining each day during Ramadan, the 9th Muslim month.

Sawm is usually described as fasting, but it actually involves abstaining from all bodily pleasures between dawn and sunset. Not only is food forbidden, but also things like smoking, chewing gum, and any sexual activity.

Muslims must also make sure that they do not do or think, anything evil.

Sawm helps Muslims develop self-control, gain a better understanding of God's gifts and greater compassion towards the deprived.

Zakat:

Giving alms to the poor.

This is a compulsory gift of 2.5 % of one's savings each year in addition to any charitable gifts a Muslim makes.

Giving in this way is intended to free Muslims from the love of money. It reminds them that everything they have really belongs to God.

Money given as Zakat can only be used for certain specific things.

Hajj:

The pilgrimage to Mecca that all physically able Muslims should make at least once in their life. Mecca is the most holy place for Muslims.

Oh, and, Bruin, you failed to address two-thirds of the items in my one sentence... What about forbidding abortion and contraception? Any "cool" conservative - make no mistake about it - would just LOVE to see people abstaining until marriage for fear of "accidents" they can neither prevent nor remediate... Wouldn't want to cut down on your flirting now, would you?

Wow wow wow fellas fellas ... calm down!!!

Gevo and Extra ... once again ... I have NO problem with people that want to have monogamous relationships. I have NO problem with swingers. I have NO problem with homosexual relationshisp (though I have said that is not marriage .. but a different topic). I have NO problem with Mormons in Utah taking multiple wives. I have NO problem with the Amish rejecting technology, living communially, and being ultra conservetive.

But MARK MY WORDS ... No %$^%#$#^%$#^%$ president of this country is every going to tell me gluttony is a sin. NEVER.

What's with this taliban attitude? Who are we to say what an adult couple can and cannot do in their marriage? I can imagine a marriage being quite successful as a strong bond an a union to form a family, raise children, and form the fundamental support structure in society ... I just don't understand how you guys love to put sex in the middle of everything ... everything is sex sex sex sex sex ... always sex being the most important and the most central thing in the relationship to be worshiped, protected, cherished, made a shrine to, never talked about, never mentioned, never shared ....

Paaaa Leeease!!! Sex is not that important ... just let it be. Sure it's a great thing between a man and a woman but it is not the ONLY thing in a relationship. If you base your entire basis for relationship around sex, you are going to have one very sorry existence in my opinion.

I appologize for the harsh words but I am getting a bit tired of ultra-conservatives complaining about the "preverted freaks" while they are the ones that can't get over this sex business!

Taliban attidue??? What are you talking about???? How am I basing everything on SEX??? Sex is important in a relationship, but not the most important thing. I've said it over and over again how honesty and respect are the two most important things in a relationship. Where do you see me saying anything about sex being the most important thing???

Who said anything about worshiping, protecting etc. sex???? Like I said before, sex isn't the most important thing in a relationship!!! I've nevvvvvvver said anything about not talking or mentioning sex!!!!! Come on now, please don't put words in my mouth.

Maybe I misunderstood but I read that as "sex is VERY VERY VERRRRRRRRRY important and must be cherished". :) (in other words monogamous sex is one of the requirements of marriage ... once you are married, can't have sex with others no more)

Guess you've got a point there. I don't care what other people do with their lives, its none of my business.

No, Sex isn't verrrrrrrrry important... Trust and respect is.See below for the definition. Where do you see me cherishing sex here?

Cheating (noun)  The act or an instance of fraudulently deceiving (Deception, Froud)

No time to reclarification ... somewhere in the middle of this thread we went from cheating (deceitful actions) which is BAD to not being necessarily monogamous in a marriage (but open about it) ... it's the second case that I am saying is OK as long as the couple agrees and knows what's going on.

... "cheating" (hidden and lied about) is still bad I agree.

what wrong with contraception? it's being responsible and thoughtful...how can anyone compare that to cheating??? and abortion? well!!! now abortion cannot be used irresponsibly as a form of contraception and i do believe it is murder but at the same time i believe people should be allowed to choose! this one is extremely situation dependent!

hmmm i don't understand your comment about flirting? what's wrong with that? there are people who are just flirtatious and those who end up in bed every time they flirt! the first case is about attitude and outlook and the second is about being a &*%$ ;)

Its weak but true but i'm sure all guys look at girls, can't help, almost instinct. Now there are levels of that, and good men have self control, or no desire to be with other girls. Of course I love my girl, but there are other beautiful women out there as well, yet what I have with my girl is the beauty and the 'other parts' that constitute love and i have no desire to be with anyone else. Also even though men look naturally, we don't have to be caught looking, or be lecherous about it. It's up to us. Not all of us are dogs.....just a fair portion.

I think you made a great point. Even I myself notice that very often when guys can not stop looking at you, and it makes you feel very uncomfortable. It always makes me think why would people look at someone when they know they are allready married? but i guess it is a guy thing.
