Azat
Can't look at yourself in the mirror can you? Are you talking to me? What makes you think that I can't look at myself in the mirror? Or do I have to agree 100% with someone to be progressive like you? I actually think(like I said above) that he is a good guy and has many great ideas, however I do not agree with everything that comes out of his mouth. MosJan
A SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR EXTRAORDINARY TALENT Established in Los Angeles in 2002, the Armenian Arts Fund addresses the growing need for cutting-edge, high-quality Armenian cultural endeavors: activities that reflect the most significant and substantive creative aspirations of the Armenian-American community. While too often those aspirations are frustrated by a lack of funding and logistical resources, the Armenian Arts Fund is dedicated to supporting young and emerging talents and disseminating their work in and beyond California. At the heart of the Armenian Arts Fund is an enduring faith in quality art at the one hand, and the continued vibrancy and promise of Armenian culture on the other. This trust draws strength from the combined experience of the cultural workers behind the Fund, and the Armenian Arts organization in particular. Founded in 2000 by a group of arts professionals headed by Stepan Partamian, the Armenian Arts organization introduced an unprecedented dynamic into California’s Armenian cultural arena. Through a string of outstanding concerts, television programs and publishing projects, the initiative proved that there is urgent popular demand for events that buck the trend: to bring novelty, candor and unfettered inspiration to cultural discourse. Above all, Armenian Arts distinguished itself with its support of young, talented musicians, visual artists and writers. Many of these individuals and groups got their first break with the encouragement and assistance of Armenian Arts. The Armenian Arts Fund is a natural outgrowth of this new tradition. It is designed not only to seek out and promote extraordinary Armenian talent, but to share the work of a new generation of creative professionals with an appreciative Armenian and world audience.Armenian culture – as movement, as vision – can only grow the richer by this effort. MAJOR ACTIVITY AREAS Armenian AwardsArmenianAwards.com is a new forum for recognizing creative excellence throughout the Armenian world. Operating within the structure of the Armenian Arts organization, ArmenianAwards.com seeks to bolster efforts of promoting Armenian art, both locally and internationally, by honoring and rewarding the outstanding endeavors of Armenian creative professionals. The Nor Yerk concertMore than a mere talent show, the Nor Yerk event is an entire process focusing on the launch, production and marketing of new musical talent in California. Held annually in Los Angeles, the Nor Yerk concert showcases fresh work by emerging or established Armenian artists. Participating vocalists and instrumentalists are asked to present material featuring Armenian motifs or themes, and their work is promoted through the Armenian Arts Fund. The 2001 Nor Yerk concert, the first of its kind, showcased more than 20 artists. Proceeds from the concert help musicians release their recordings and market them worldwide. PublicationsThe Armenian Arts Fund plans to publish a series of engaging, informative books on contemporary Armenian issues. A major project is a volume entitled “Gifts to the World: Contributions of Armenians to Humanity.” The Fund is currently gathering visual and textual data on Armenians throughout history who have made significant contributions to world civilization. Categories include science, technology, visual and performing arts, cinema, business and industry, sports, literature, as well as philanthropy. The Armenian Arts Fund encourages you to inform it of any individual whose work would deserve to be included in “Gifts to the World.” Community outreach through televisionSince 2000, the Armenian Arts organization has been a pioneer in introducing open dialogue through the airwaves. The Armenian Arts program, airing on local Armenian television in Los Angeles, is a talk show with a twist. Featuring host Stepan Partamian, the show continues to raise eyebrows by tackling difficult, often taboo topics relating to Armenian identity, culture, politics, history and religion. Not surprisingly, the show has made an enormous number of enemies – always a good sign – even if most have grown fond of the program and now count themselves among its most avid supporters, even encouraging their families to watch the program. The show has also won accolades from the get-go: thanks to its brutal honesty and genuine dedication to positive change, it has found resonance with an Armenian public thirsting for frank, no-nonsense discussion of current affairs. Concert seriesIn addition to the annual Nor Yerk concert, the Armenian Arts Fund will continue to present outstanding performing arts events in California and elsewhere. These concerts feature Armenian music from throughout the ages, including fresh interpretations of the folk and pop repertoires, as well as new, cutting-edge material from some of today’s most innovative musicians. The Armenian Arts organization has created its own band, the Garni Folk Ensemble, which has been showcased in several critically acclaimed concerts. Other past events include concerts with jazz great Datevik Hovanessian, Armenian trance music pioneer Sako, the Three Armenians performance at the Ford Amphitheatre, and concerts showcasing Winds of Passion. Armenian Arts was the first organization ever to release the works of Gagik Badalyan, Parik Nazarian and Winds of Passion on "Cycle of Life" the DVD. Armenian Arts MagazineDistributed free of charge throughout Los Angeles, the Armenian Arts Magazine is unlike any Armenian publication currently on the market. With state-of-the-art design and printed on glossy stock in full color, the monthly publication features gritty profiles of and interviews with Armenian and world artists, as well as information on upcoming concerts and other cultural events. The Armenian Arts Fund plans to expand both the scope and breadth of the magazine, and will continue to distribute it free of charge. THE HORIZONThe Armenian Arts Fund was established to leverage the mass of cultural accomplishments achieved by the Armenian Arts organization in recent years. The Fund is about building on that momentum, continuing to promote talented young artists, and offering the Armenian public exceptional events that nurture and inspire. Expanding this work into the future means not only strengthening existing activity areas, but also embracing new technologies and means of communication, in order to better serve an increasingly sophisticated audience. BE A PART OF THE FUTURE TODAYYour timely support is crucial to the mission of the Armenian Arts Fund. Armenian Arts, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation, and it is governed under strict laws of transparency and accountability. Best of all, its track record speaks for itself. Today, we urge you, as a concerned Armenian and an arts patron, to become part of a whole new cultural paradigm. You have the choice to support any or all of our activity areas, and we encourage you to voice your opinions on how to improve them. The Armenian Arts Fund has an annual operating budget of $300,000, all of which comes from grass roots support. Such an amount may not be enough to build a cathedral, but it’s more than adequate to organize a slew of outstanding, memorable cultural events, underwrite quality television programming, and publish extremely useful magazines and books. In short, your contribution will enable us to bolster a process that relies on our own strengths, to appreciate our very best forces and help them succeed: a grass roots effort dedicated to the grass roots. Think of the possibilities… and think of the profoundly positive changes your support will advance. -=VAHE=-
Personally I think Stepan Is a very smart guy if not a genious of some sort because his views on pretty much everything have much logic to it. On the other hand his views on religion make him unpopular and also lack of religion brings his idea of ethics lower for example he encourages Armenian girls to have sex before marriage and considers people who dont agree with him rusty minded people. Alot of people who call in can not really put him in his place in the areas where he wrong due to lack speeking skills or knowledge of that subject but I have seen a couple guest from Armenia on his show who shut him up pretty well. Other than that I think every thing he is doing for me and you and our race is great and I really appreciate it. I wish I could understand him a little better. AND yes i am guilty of enjoying watching people prank calling the guy.

hyebruin
i think he intimidates and infuriates many!!....his speech sometimes becomes so inflammatory and almost lecture like preaching that i have to tune him out!!
Azat
This is why I think he should stick to Art(music). Something that he is EXCEPTIONALLY good at. Else he should change the name of the show from "Armenian Arts" to something else. I do have to say that the people who make the prank calls are total boneheads.(yes even worse then I) He has brought up may interesting subjects, but in my book he is a shock jock. BTW: It is the ONLY armenian show that I watch on TV. http://www.armenianarts.com/stepan
