Here is one for the Computer/Technology Forum. This is not a joke,

Japan's latest innovation: a remote-control roach

http://www.intercorr.com/gifs/roach.jpg

The roach's "backpack" contains a receiver that converts the signals from a remote control into electrical stimuli that are applied to the base of the roach's antennae. This allows the "operator" to get the roach to stop, go forward, backup, or turn left and right, on-command.

Japanese government sees the potential for controllable insects, fitted with sensors, to conduct inspection trips through tiny machine passages looking for corrosion and other problem; they're backing the research with $5 million.

Harut jan, you know what they say about man who have size 20 feet.... Hmmmm, I better not go any further.

Okay one more tech story that is kind of funny.

A programmer in Thailand has created software that keeps mosquitoes away.

Running the "Anti-Mosquitoes" program produces a sound through your PC speakers that mosquitoes find annoying.

Here is the link: http://www.thaiware.com/software/util/UL00608.htm

Prooves that you can find anything on the net.

I've found that playing Aram Asatrian MP3s has the same effect, but I can't stand it either. (Sorry to all Asatrian fans. I was going to mention another singer, but I did not want Nellie to get upset at me. )

Couple of Technology stories,

The Apple's iPOD and other similar MP3 players have evolved alot in the last couple of years. Just remember 2 years ago when the first MP3 players came out and they only would allow you to carry 1 CD worth of songs on them. Just 12 songs or so. Today on the iPOD you can save 1000 of your favorite songs on its tiny 5 gigabyte hard disk. Well in few months we are going to think that 1000 songs is too little, because Toshiba is coming out with a 25 gigabyte disk for SonicBlue MP3 player that will carry up to 5,000 songs. That is enough space to store approximately 350 CDs. All that for sub $400. Isn't technology great. http://www.sonicblue.com/company/press.asp?ID=519

I wonder how many songs MP3 players will be able to store in 2 years?

----------

One more quick one. Sprint PCS will soon allow you to connect to the net on your computer via a wireless connection that is at 2-3 times faster than the fastest dial up connections.

Sprint customers will connect to the net at speeds of up to 144 kilobits per second soon(1-2 months) and by the end of the year, the division will complete a second upgrade that will double the network's top speed to 288 kilobits per second, with a jump to movie-capable 3-megabit speeds tentatively set for 2004.

Verizon will be offering a similar service as well.

Now the only thing left is for some hardware company to integrate a cell phone right into the network card for my notebook and than I can check HyeForum from anywhere I go.

Here is a fun site for Hockey fans. Okay for fans of hockey fights. http://www.broadstreetbully.com/index.shtml

And this one for people who want to watch the "Matrix". Okay they use Legos for the characters, but it is still funny. http://www.ifilm.com/ifilm/product/film_in...2414340,00.html

Not much more in 2 years but a few years down the road, probably only a few songs because there will be no need to store much locally (where space and cost are at a premium) THINK outside the box (i.e. internet connectivity, 45Mbps wireless, etc)
