Guest
Armenia, Iran Reach Final Stage In Gas Pipeline Deal YEREVAN (Snark)--Armenian and Iranian power engineering specialists have entered the final phase of negotiations before signing the final contract on the construction of the Iranian-Armenian gas pipeline. A schedule has already been worked out for the implementation of the project. The efforts displayed by Armenian defense minister and secretary of the security council Serge Sargssian during his recent visit to Tehran for the implementation of the project and the constructive stance of Armenian president, Robert Kocharian, have promoted the gas pipeline project. Iran has no financing problem, and the work on the gas pipeline can be implemented in three phases and the gas can be supplied directly, via transit and reverse. A globally-recognized price for gas does not exist. The Commonwealth of Independent States and Europe each have their own price for gas. The price of Iranian gas to Armenia will be determined during the negotiations and the contract will envisage a payment mechanism.
