The indicator of Armenia is the fourth in CIS countries. Kazakhstan is leading in GDP growth rates (14%). Moldova is the last (2.6%). MosJan Posted September 24, 2001 Author Report Share Posted September 24, 2001 ARMENIAN ECONOMY EXPANDS 7.7% IN JAN-AUG 9/21/2001Armenian GDP grew 7.7% year-on-year in the first eight months of this year and measured 611.4 billion dram, the national statistics service reported. GDP in August was up 19.5% from the previous monthIndustrial production rose 2.3% year-on-year to 190.6 billion dram in the eight months, and was up 7.1% in August from the previous month. The foreign trade turnover edged up 0.5% to $759.2 million in the eight months, as exports rose 12% to $213.7 million while imports slumped 3.4% to $545.5 million. The number of registered unemployed fell 12.1% to 143,900 at the end of August. The average monthly wage was 22,724 dram in the eight months, up 12.4% year-on-year.
