MosJan Posted August 21, 2001 Report Share Posted August 21, 2001 PROVINCE OF LORI REPORTS 20% INDUSTRIAL GROWTH VANADZOR, AUGUST 20, ARMENPRESS: Local authorities in the Armenian province of Lori have said the industrial growth in the province in the first six months of the current year was 122 percent against the same period of time last year. The Manex and Valex copper smelter reported a 20 percent growth, whereas last year its output made 80 percent in the overall volume of industrial growth in the first half of last year. Several other local companies also reported a significant progress in the first half of the year. Thus industrial companies in the provincial center Vanadzor reported a 200 percent growth. An ore mining and processing company in Akhtala is expected to resume operation this week. It is supposed to process some 120,000 tons of ore annually. A progress was also reported in the sector of agricultural products procession. In the region of Tashir alone 28 cheese making companies are operating this year against 8 in 2000.
