Guest Posted January 25, 2001 Report Share Posted January 25, 2001 ESTABLISHMENT OF JOINT ARMENIAN-IRANIAN COORDINATION GROUP ON IRAN-ARMENIA PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION IS PLANNED25.01.2001 14:08 25.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. "The construction of Iran-Armenia gas pipeline will begin in 2001 and will be completed at the earliest possible date," Energy Minister of Armenia Karen Galustian stated yesterday to the journalists upon the end of the 3rd meeting of the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental commission. According to Galustian, the formation of a joint coordination group on pipeline construction is planned. The realization of construction on the Armenian territory will be provided by the Armenian side, while Iran will provide the construction on its territory. The minister informed that the cost of the pipeline construction on the Armenian territory will amount to 96 million dollars, and on the Iranian territory the works are estimated 42 million dollars. Summing up the commission meeting, the Minister of Finance and Economy of Iran Hussein Namazi spoke from the Iranian side. According to him, there is a real possibility to increase the commodity circulation volume between Armenia and Iran, bringing it from 100 million dollars in 2000 to 250 million dollars this year. Namazi also informed that in the course of the work of the commission questions on cooperation between the two states in the sphere of transport were discussed. Iranian minister assured that necessary measures for free conveyance of Armenian cargo cars on the territory of Iran will be taken.
