HAMAM and HAMMAM

Hamam Amatuni, the Founder of Hmamshen./Hamshen.

Note the single M and the double M-s

In another thread that was mercifully hidden by our ever dilligent Mods, a friend of ours had said that the word hamam was when an Armenian built a bath and the furks liked it.

I assumed the talk was about Hamam Amatuni, the founder of Hamamshen,i.e Built by Hamam later abbreviated to Hamshen..

At that time, my not so rhetorical question was.

Would you name your child bathroom? Who names their child bathroom/toilet?

Speaking of Hamam meaning bath-room as in Hamam Amatuni, the founder of Hamshen abbreviated from Hamamshen, built by Hamam. And that his name did not mean bathroom, but Dove from the Arabic.

Ողջոյն,

Ջանամ մասնակցելով մեր ուսուցիչ Արփայի ասածին մի բան աւելացնել:

Եկէ'ք pigeon-ը թարգմանենք տատրակ, dove-ը՝ աղաւնի:

Pigeon-ի արաբերէնն է حمام hamam եւ قمري-cumri, որ միջնադարեան հայ քնարերգութեան մէջ արձանագրուել է. ղումրի, խումրի ձեւերով:

See below that hamam , single M means dove and the word for bath is spelled with double Ms , from the Arabic hmma= heat, spa, steam, hot room.**

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/حام

Also note that hamam with the single M means and the long A means Dove while hammamwith the double Ms is spelled with the short A. HamAm as in bath, as opposed to hamAAm, Dove..

حمام (ḥamām) m (collective) ― حمامة (ḥamāma) (singulative), plurals حمامات (ḥamāmāt)‎ or حمائم (ḥamāʾim)‎ dove, pigeon

---

حَمَّام (ḥammām) m, plural حمامات (ḥammāmāt)‎ bath, bathroom bathhouse, spa

** Consider the term beyin ummasu/hummasu from that other cursed language , to mean heat stricken viral brain, disease ; encephalitis..
