MosJan
AZERBAIJANI FOREIGN MINISTER CLAIMS MILITARY OPERATION BEGINNING IN Artsax IS UNAVOIDABLE20.11.2001 /PanARMENIAN.Net/ To say the exact terms of Azerbaijan's military operation beginning against Armenia is not possible yet. As «Arminfo» informs, this opinion has been expressed by Azerbaijan's foreign mnister Vilayat Guliyev in his interview to «Liberty» radio station. «President of the country just warns of the possibility of the conflict settlement by force, giving international community the chance to activate the Artsax conflict settlement», noted Guliyev. According to him, Azerbaijan's head tends to use the possibility of the political dialog till the very end. «While the dialog continues, Baku has no intention to begin military operations», stated Azerbaijani minister. Paul bunyan
will Armenia be able to defeat them if they should attack? they will be getting American weapons and money, and high grade military training, like that which they give to the turks for free. azerbaijan's idea of "fighting terrorism", is to start up its pogramsagainst Karabagh, the liberated territories, Karavajar, Kashatagh, Kovsakan, Kashunik. and ultimately, Armenia itself. they will be strengthening their Airbases along theriver Asperon. I wonder how far these airplane bases are from the border ofNagorno~Karabagh.?
Aaron
Paulif the war starts both armies will fight hard. those who believe a quick armenian victory is possible basing on what happened during the first war are wrong. Azerbaijan would never attack if not confident and sure of substantial gains. On the other hand those who believe an Azeri victory is possible are also wrong, they might take cities, provinces, regions but clean net and final victory is impossible, a guerilla war would start creating hell for azeri troops. This is the last thing we need, it would totally and slowly destroy and drain armenia's energy. It is too late to bring the situation to what it was before 1988, the idea of independence is anchored through the minds. So peace is the best way, but i definitely think azeris must show more flexibility in negotiations.
Juggernaut
quoteAzerbaijan would never attack if not confident and sure of substantial gains. Yes, that is for sure. But I believe Sept 11 has made it less favourable for Azerbaijan to launch an attack, so I dont think they will attack any time soon if at all. Mind you, a war would be a disaster for both sides, escpessially Azerbaijan.
