The unveiling of this tribute will take place on May 22, 2025, marking a huge event in the year-long commemoration of Aznavour's remarkable life and career. Charles Aznavour, born on May 22, 1924, in Paris, is celebrated for his enduring contributions to music and film. His song "La Bohème," first recorded in 1965 and released as a hit in 1966, has become a beloved classic. The statue planned for Yerevan will depict Aznavour performing this signature song, capturing the essence of his artistic legacy. The statue, created by Armenian sculptor Davit Mianasyan, was selected through an open competition organized by the Yerevan Municipality. This competition attracted over 60 applications and more than 100 models. Mianasyan's work won the approval of the professional jury, receiving 9 votes and surpassing other submissions. Armenak Vardanyan's sculpture secured second place and will receive a monetary award as recognition. Yerevan is set to celebrate the 100th anniversary of legendary singer Charles Aznavour with the installation of a statue dedicated to his iconic song, "La Bohème." The unveiling of this tribute will take place on May 22, 2025, marking a huge event in the year-long commemoration of Aznavour's remarkable life and career. Charles Aznavour, born on May 22, 1924, in Paris, is celebrated for his enduring contributions to music and film. His song "La Bohème," first recorded in 1965 and released as a hit in 1966, has become a beloved classic. The statue planned for Yerevan will depict Aznavour performing this signature song, capturing the essence of his artistic legacy. The statue, created by Armenian sculptor Davit Mianasyan, was selected through an open competition organized by the Yerevan Municipality. This competition attracted over 60 applications and more than 100 models. Mianasyan's work won the approval of the professional jury, receiving 9 votes and surpassing other submissions. Armenak Vardanyan's sculpture secured second place and will receive a monetary award as recognition.
