An anthropological assessment would argue that music has and still holds a vibrant foothold in the forefront of molding a generational identity. A cliché or not, music is the one source of communication that has mastered itself into an art which has no boundaries or limits, making us feel what no other existing thing on this planet can. For my parents (and all those who lived during their generation), the now-nostalgic sounds of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple or Pink Floyd represent much more than just a bunch of tracks off popular rock records. They remain to them as remnants of a generation that no longer exists, and a culture that defied their youth. As I stood in my seat at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, impatiently waiting for the grand arrival of System of a Down after a five year hiatus, it all began to make sense. Like a good Virgo should, I began to analyze just about everything and everyone that surrounded me at the venue. I had finally realized what it meant to be reunited with my youth. It was surreal, the feeling of being physically present in an event that ultimately served as a catalyst for thousands of fans to collectively relive a cultural remnant of a decade and a generation. As the clock neared 9:15, the curtain which covered all that was visible of the stage lit up and the music began. Just like that, five years of unbearable anticipation had come to an end. System of a Down was finally here. The first song off the set list that night was “Prison Song,” which coincidently is the first track off System of a Down’s critically acclaimed 2001 album, Toxicity. The band covered major ground that night by playing nearly thirty songs. With great energy, eye-widening visual effects and a magnificent sound, I was literally blown away with the band’s dedication to sounding better than ever. Fans were also fortunate enough to hear songs such as “Soldier Side,” “P.L.U.C.K” and “Tentative,” a true rarity to hear at a System of a Down gig. There was something magical about the aura that existed that night at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. I couldn’t help myself from feeling as though System of a Down’s concert was far more than just a one-dimensional event. Amidst the mushroom clouds of smoke, flashing lights and screaming fans, I had found myself in a state of great satisfaction. You see, to a musician or a passionate fan, nothing is more Lyoux than getting the opportunity of having the ultimate concert experience. A lyoux event doesn’t necessarily need to be affiliated or correlated with materialism, wealth or superficiality. His father ran to his side to try and help him, but was shot as well. Both men were rushed to a hospital, however, died hours later from gunshot wounds.The perpetrator fled the scene. Police have made sketches of the gunman and a search has begun. Manvel Maloyan has been coaching the Guatemalan national team for 10 years and his son, David, joined later to help his father, RIA Novosti reported.Guatemala is considered one of the most dangerous countries in Latin America.
