As the Azerbaijani users of the socialnetworks and forums informed thousands of people burnt the cars andhouses of the officials of the region. The police was not able tosupervise the situation. Accoridng to the information from Azerbaijannew forces were expected to be brought from other towns of Azerbaijanduring the night. Note that the residents got angry because of the behavior of theson of the Minister of labor and social issues Fizuli Alekperov whocrashed with his ~SHummer~T car in the region. Then he offended theresidents, after which the citizens beat him terribly and continuedexpressing their anger towards the uncle of the young man, who isthe governor of the region. As reports Armenpress referring to haqqin.az mass protests are rarein Azerbaijan and the crowds' complaints about wages, unemploymentand oppressive government may send a worrying signal to autocraticPresident Ilham Aliyev in an election year. As reports Armenpress at least one building on fire and the burningcarcasses of vehicles set ablaze by rioters on Wednesday night inthe town of Ismaili, 200 km (125 miles) northwest of the capitalBaku.Police said protesters and police were injured and reinforcementsbrought in from outside the town to help restore order. Azerbaijan'sTuran news agency quoted witnesses as saying the protests ended onlyafter tear gas and water cannon were used. The rioting began after a hotel owner drove his car into an electricitypole and got into a fight with a driver whose vehicle was parkednearby, witnesses said. About 3,000 people went to the driver's hotel, set fire to it andtorched cars in the courtyard, before moving on to the home of regionalgovernor Nizami Alekperov's son, where a car and two motorcycles wereset ablaze.
