MosJan Posted November 21, 2001 Report Share Posted November 21, 2001 SUICIDES REPORTS IN AZERI ARMY GROWThe heavy situation in the Azerbaijani armed forces and the growing number of reported suicides have become a major concern of the public, according to the leader of Vahdat party Tair Kerimli. "Only healthy society can have a healthy army," he was quoted by local mass media. According to Kerimli, sons of wealthy businessmen and government official avoid serving in the ill army and the burden falls on the shoulders of youths from ordinary families. The increased number of suicide reports Kerimli links with the heavy situation in the army, in which, he says, "serving is intolerable."
