MosJan Posted September 10, 2001 Report Share Posted September 10, 2001 PHILATELY INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OPENED IN YEREVAN YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 10, ARMENPRESS An international exhibition of philately dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of Armenia's adoption of Christianity, opened today at the Modern Art Museum in Yerevan. The exhibition, organized by the transport and communication ministry, displays more than 150 collections of philatelists from Armenia, Greece, Spain, Argentina, Germany and Russia. Armenia's transport and communication minister Andranik Manukian, who opened the exhibition, said that philately was a means of presenting the Armenian cultural values to the world, so as the tradition of this exhibition should be continued and developed. The deputy head of the Philatelists International Federation Erisero Ruben Otero expressed hope that the Armenian philately will reach international standards. Among the former USSR countries Armenia, Russia, Belarus and the Baltic states are members of this Federation, which includes 127 countries of the world.
