Online sources

I have been pasting a lot of information from the online sources, lately. I am amazed at the amount and diversity of online information available in our days.

However, I find that the Armenian sources are still inadequate in providing diversity of views and subjects, and depth. The online window to the world of Armenia and Armenian heritage is very narrowly positioned. It is so partially because of the limited access to the Internet in Armenia, but more so because of the lack of interest, I think.

For example, I couldn't find an online source for Armenian theological thought. At leastone of the Armenian Theological Seminaries or churches could present it.

While Groong is an excellent news source, it doesn't seem that we have a politological or economical-scientific online venue.

The same could perhaps be claimed in any other online dimension.

By in large, I find that the Armenian sites are very mediocre.

In my view, so that these sites attract readers, they have to embrace all-human values, present mature and in-depth views, abandon the narrowly focused "fedayee" realm of mind, and present issues and interpretations beyond the traditional provincial mentality.

Am I exaggerating?

I am saying they have to embrace all-human values, and have to see the world not from a narrow window.

I obviously don't mean the sites of informational character, but those of "missionary" character.

Are you saying that they are mediocre because they have to "embrace all-human values" or because they have not?

There are three things that make a good website: content, more content and even more content! The trouble with a lot of websites is that they do not consider themselves to be primary publishers - how many websites actually have ORIGINAL material - most have just very simplified versions of stuff available in books. And I agree about the lack of depth - even if the content IS original, it is often too simplified to be anything more that a introduction to the subject.
