Guest
Why do people cheat? Do they cheat for different reasons? What are the MAIN reasons? Do people cheat just because they can't not cheat? (just like they can't not steal or gamble or drink or blah blah blah) Is there a difference between the cheating patterns of men and women? What is that difference? OK now that I have given you a head-ache ... try to come up with something Yours Truly
Guest
I believe all attached men are tempted by other women. Some women are tempted, too--but much less frequently. But what makes some take the next step and act upon it, while others don't? I can see a one-nighter-type fling happening. Not that it is right, but you can see how such things occur. Especially if drinking is involved. However, people carrying on complete cheating relationships is another thing. Here are some reasons (in my humble-assed opinion): --Too chicken to just get out of the relationship --Unhappy couple, but children in the house and thus they don't want to divorce --Shakey marriage to begin with--should have never gotten married in the first place. --It's tolerated to a certain extent Hell, I'd be immediately kicked out of the house and be walking down Canada Blvd with all my belongings on my head like Erykah Badu, if I cheated. --Men are pigs (and some women, too) Wanna be Mormon? Hell no, ONE wife is enough!

Guest
Some can of worms you opened, woman!... my god!! I really have to stop hitting "delete" after writing long winded essays (I did that again just now, mainly because I noticed that I was expressing too many contradictory opinions). My basic approach to cheating: most people cheat, both women and men. They do it matter of factly, too, no shame, no regrets, no remorse. The more complicated the individual, the more likely they are to cheat. Most people cheat because they're bored with some aspect of their lives and want some excitement. I also think people make a bigger deal out of it than it needs to be. People make mistakes, what makes us think we ourselves are so infallible? Who are we to judge? (no, I'm not saying that because I feel guilty for having cheated. I've never cheated.) Think about it: it's just a mistake, plain and simple. I think people should be more forgiving of it. I'll say one thing: if my husband came home one fine night and said "gayancho, you know i'd die for you but tonight i slept with another woman" i'd probably squeeze his hand, kiss him on the cheek and make him some tea. And that would be the end of that. If a committment can't be that unconditional, what kind of a committment is it? I have no patience with people who get divorced because they were cheated on. Anyway, that's my two cents worth on this subject. (and if i've surprised some people with this statement..., )

A swift kick in the nuts to him should be your first step.I sort of agree with you (that's what I was refering to in my post about a one-time fling), but once someone crosses that line they will probably do it repeatedly. I'm not sure there is such thing as a "one-time affair." It becomes termites in the foundation of your marriage.Commitment is commitment. Now, should a couple divorce over one incident? No.[This message has been edited by Pilafhead (edited February 01, 2001).]

(and if i've surprised some people with this statement..., )Gayane, how many times have you cheated on your boyfriend (or future hasband)???From my point of view (and From God's will) i wish to have one wife that i will love, mother of my children, and never though about others. However men in my family are cheaters for generations :)) And wives know that, but what can they say... That's why I cherish armenian women, and put them higher than others... strong, patient, going through the hell for their children and family. Others would ask for divorce and have boyfriends while having kids... i have no words for that...And also, Gayane, you know my opinion about women cheating, and i think you guess what my reaction on that is and what these women deserve for that... But i don't want to start this women-men thing. Take care..Artur[This message has been edited by Artur (edited February 01, 2001).]

Guest
In my opinion, men are more intrested in physical beauty than women are. All women should take care of their looks, exercise and be happy. Not get married, stop caring about their looks etc. etc. "I have no patience for people who divorce who were cheated on." I have a high level of self esteem. I am far from hopeless. Only a hopeless person would stay with a cheater I.M.O. Someone who cheats on their partner doesn't respect them. I couldn't stay with a cheater because I don't respect weak people who lack morals!

Guest
"The more complicated the person, the more they are likely to cheat." Cheaters lack confidence, and have very little self respect which is why they can easily disrespect others. If you don't love yourself - you can't love others. A cheater is a loser! If I found out someone I was with was a cheater - I would give them a huge kick in the ---. I would tell them to hit the curb. CYA later - Aurevoir - Sianara (spelling). etc. etc.

Guest
Here's a website from a guy chronicling his divorce. His wife cheated on him with the "lawn boy". If nothing else, listen to the voice mails. http://www.****edmarriage.net/home.html Damn censorship! Replace the asterisks in the URL with the f-word. Guest
That's a very good idea, Gayane! Bit that's not the end of the line It reminds me an old Armenian Radio joke: Question: What time should a righteous girl go to bed?A.R.: 8:00pm, since she has to be home at 10:00pm.
