So you think you are smart? Then try this test. Let's see how many you get right. Try to answer the questions first and then read the answers as you scroll down. Remember, you are on the "honor system" So no cheating

---

1. What do you put in a toaster?

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

The answer is bread. If you said "toast", then give up now and go do something else. Try not to hurt yourself. If you said, "bread", go to question 2.

2. Say "silk" five times. Now spell "silk". What do cows drink?

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Answer: Cows drink water. If you said "milk", please do not attempt the next question. Your brain is obviously overstressed and may even overheat. It may be that you need to content yourself with reading something more appropriate such as "Children's World". If you said, "water" then proceed to question three.

3. If a red house is made from red bricks and a blue house is made from blue bricks and a pink house is made from pink bricks and a black house is made from black bricks, what is a greenhouse made from?

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Answer: Greenhouses are made from glass. If you said "green bricks", what the heck are you still doing here reading these questions????? Dang..... If you said "glass", then go on to question four.

4. Twenty years ago, a plane is flying at 20,000 feet over Germany. If you will recall, Germany at the time was politically divided into West Germany and East Germany. Anyway, during the flight, TWO of the engines fail. The pilot, realizing that the last remaining engine is also failing, decides on a crash landing procedure. Unfortunately the engine fails before he has time and the plane crashes smack in the middle of "no man's land" between East Germany and West Germany. Where would you bury the survivors - East Germany or West Germany or in "no man's land"?

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Answer: You don't, of course, bury survivors. If you said ANYTHING else, you are a real dunce and you must NEVER try to rescue anyone from a plane crash. Your efforts would not be appreciated. ...... If you said, "Don't bury the survivors" then proceed to the next question.

5. If the hour hand on a clock moves 1/60th of a degree every minute then how many degrees will the hour hand move in one hour?

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Answer: One degree. If you said "360 degrees" or anything other than "one degree", you are to be congratulated on getting this far, but you are obviously out of your league. Turn your pencil in and exit the room. Everyone else proceed to the final question.

6. Without using a calculator - You are driving a bus from London to Milford Haven in Wales. In London, 17 people get on the bus. In Reading, six people get off the bus and nine people get on. In Swindon, two people get off and four get on. In Cardiff, 11 people get off and 16 people get on. In Swansea, three people get off and five people get on. In Carmathen, six people get off and three get on. You then arrive at Milford Haven. What was the name of the bus driver?

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Answer: Oh, for heaven sake! It was YOU ! Read the first line again!

----

For the record: I just wanted to say that I think it's ok for cows to drink milk and I also think it's ok to bury survivors sometime

Here's one for you:

Here are some letters arranged in a square. Notice the arrangement. E is just after W, U is just below W, D is between S and F.

Q W E R T

Y U I O P

A S D F G

H J K L Z

Now answer these questions

1. Which letter is just above the letter which is just after the letter which is just between the letter just above L and just below O?

2. Which letter is between the letter which is just above the letter which is just after the letter just below the letter A, and the letter just below the letter just before the letter just above the letter G?

Nairi

Edit: Nevermind the layout of the square. It wouldn't come out nicer.

code:
Q W E R T

Y U I O P

A S D F G

H J K L Z

The "code" tags can be used to preserve spacing.

1. P

2. D

I sincerely hope I didn't make a mistake on this since I spent about 10 minutes on it and my head hurts! It is definitely one of the most confusing things I have ever had to "solve"

I did make an assumption that "after" means to the right and "before" means to the left. Oh and "between the letter just above L and just below O" didn't really make sense to me so I assumed it was referring to F.

That's exactly what I thought. And who knows ... maybe big cows also drink milk... or at least they want to.

yes unlike the others in my house. I suppose they don't know culture. The great thing is that it is NOT a kids cartoon, simply an animated sitcom. Did you see they one about principal skinner really being Amarind Tamazarian? (i THINK that's the name, anyway) I been dying to see it but it was never aired on Sky.

yeah i know. I never thought of it till someone else on the forum so thoughtfully pounted it out. I mean, why else would cows need to produced milk, by rights of nature? But what was that about the adult cows?

Yes! Actually it was Armen Tamzarian! My brother and I couldn't believe our ears the first time he said his real name. Actually, that episode is a fairly strange one. It turns out that this whole time he has actually been lying and in reality, he is an Armenian guy pretending to be this "Seymore Skinner" who returned from war. Can you imagine? They picked an Armenian to be the "impostor". But at least he is a very decent and good guy in the show ... who lives with his mother and never goes out!

I think it is actually both of those AND much more. They manage to somehow appeal to all sorts of people. They got simple "cartoon" type comedy for the kids (like when Homer bangs his head around, falls down, and other physical comedy stuff) ... they have deep story lines dealing with religeon, family, society ... they have a lot of satire-type stuff making fun of popular books, movies, pop-culture, political current events, and a lot of other things.

On top of that, they have tons of deep-hidden jokes and messages ... than only a select few in the population would be able to understand. But when you do understand it, it becomes extremely interesting and entertaining.

Everytime I watch an episode, I find something new that I didn't notice before. It is amazing how talented their writers, Matt Groening and Dan Castanella (Homer's voice) in particular, are and how much time and effort they put into those scripts.

They somehow manage to have something for everyone! That has probably been the key to their amazing success.

Harry Shearer (not Armenian) does the voice of Skinner. He also does the voices of Ned Flanders, Burns, Smithers, Lenny (Homer's coworker), Otto, Jasper, Herman (the one-armed military guy), Kent Brockman, Rev. Lovejoy, God, Satan, McBain and a LOT of other misc characters.

Oh, and according to simpsons.com, that name is actually Armin Tamzarian.

I have seen Malcom in the Middle maybe once or twice. It seems to be pretty interesting ... but no Simpsons

There was another cartoon, I think it was British and I'm not sure if it has ever aired in America, but it was all a bunch of short reoccurring sketches. So for instance you had Mr. Phillipousis playing "stare" with Mr. Burns (or something like that) and Mr. Markarian who was continuously put in weird situations like a time-machine, a catapult or a rocket, and was always asked "Is there a last thing you'd like to say Mr. Markarian" and he always replies with "No." until the very last second when he's about to be launched and raises his finger (like a schoolboy) and says "Um... actually...", but it's always too late. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Unfortunately I only caught the show three or four times by accident, but was absolutely fascinated.
