TURKEY DECIDES TO CAST THE BLAME FOR ERGENEKON ON ARMENIANS PanARMENIAN.Net April 6, 2011 - 16:41 AMT 11:41 GMT Well-known Turkish journalist and analyst of Milliyet paper HasanCemal, grandson of an organizer of the Armenian Genocide in the OttomanEmpire, minister of marine Cemal *****, wrote in a publication thatfamous writer, journalist, editor-in-chief of Cumhuriyet paper IlhanSelcuk, who died in 2010, was of Armenian descent. Referring to Selcuk's Armenian origin, journalist of Liberal Sesnews website Tuncay Opcin confirmed the statements of Hasan Cemal,citing information obtained from his Armenian friend. "I learnedfrom my Armenian friend that Ilhan Selcuk's mother was Armenian,while his aunt was buried at an Armenian cemetery of Sisli." "There have always been conversations about Ilhan Selcuk's descent. But there was no certain data on it. Today, Hasan Cemal has revealedthis secret," Zaman reported. In 2008, Ilhan Selcuk was detained as part of an investigation onErgenekon terrorist organization. According to the Turkish media,Ilhan Selcuk was the ideologist of Ergenekon. Selcuk is not the only"Armenian" arrested with respect to the case on Ergenekon.
