Shahan Arzruni to Perform at Akhtamar

[ 2010/08/24 | 10:05 ] diasporahttp://hetq.am/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/shahan-arzruni_24.08.10.jpgShahan Arzruni, an accomplished piano virtuoso based in New York, has accepted an invitation to perform at the church services that will take place on September 19 on the island of Akhtamar, Lake Van.

My long-time desire is about to come true. The Turkish Consulate General in New York, with the cooperation of the Van Governor’s Office, the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized and put together a full-length concert in a most satisfying way,” Arzruni told the Hürriyet Daily News.

Mr. Arzruni was born in Istanbul and visits the city several times a year. He says he feels equally at home in both.

The most striking work of the concert is likely to be “Akhtamar,” by Arzruni’s aunt, master composer Sirvart Karamanukyan, who died in Istanbul last year.

When asked if the current problems between the two peoples could be overcome and a dialogue could be established, Arzruni said: “Communication is perhaps the only means to understanding each other’s aspirations, desires, intentions, thoughts and sentiments. Sometimes a simple smile is enough to communicate a host of feelings. Whatever the case, I am sure the people who will come to visit Akhtamar Island on that historic weekend will be met with open arms by the residents of Van.”

Սիրելի ՄոսՋան, միթէ դու երդուել ես չի կարդալ իմ յղումները? :ap: :ap:

As far as I am concerned this Forum is turning a BIG COMEDISTAN, and the Aghtamar thing is turning into a three ring circus. With mehmet talking about to open, not open the borders. To place or not to place a CROSS on the HOLY CROSS CHURCH. To invite or not invite allow Jivan Gasparian, to Invite Shahan Ardzruni, to urge or not the thez inhabitants of Van to open, or not their hotels and homes for the estimated 50,000, yes I said "fifty thousand" potential Armenians who have applied for visa to visit Van and Aghtamar!!! :P :D :) ;) :angry:

Who here plnas to attend or knows anyone that plans to attend? Please give us names and addresses!

See #23 here;And when you go to the pictures see Shahan as a young boy;
