I wrote about Պուրակ and Բուրաստան.

To refresh our memory, once again note that latter is spelled with the letter Բ and is based on բոյր/բույր(sweet)smell/perfume, while the former is spelled with the letter Պ, we will see why and see a few pleasant surprises.

First-

ԲՈՅՐ անուշ հոտ “բուրել”sweet smell. It is seen in many near and neighbors’ languages in one form or other, the most interesting is the Persian “boy”- sweet smell from which “boysdan/bosdan bousdan.”**, just like Armenian “bourasdan/բուրասդան” to mean fruit garden/orchard..

**Those familiar with Arabic know this word.(Search and see the surname - Bostanjian )

ՊՈՒՐԱԿ անտառակ, փոքրիկ անտառ often «պրակ». . It seems to have come the Sanskrit “pauraka”-քաղաքի մօտ սբոսավայր, պարտէզ.AHA!!! PARK?

Հոմանիշների Բառարան says -

Պուրակ(1) սբոսաայգի,ճեմայգի,պարտէզ, ճեմապարտէզ, սբոսապարկ: Անտառ, անտառակ, դարաստան(?), ծառուտ, ծարասատան,թաւուտ, մացառ, եղեգնապուլակ

Here is the surprise, even though the Armatakan does not mention-

Once again from Homanishner, etymology unknown

Պուրակ(2) - Ծրար, կապոց, փաթէթ***

AAH!!!

The dictionary of those other people- “borek” = pastry, pie. No etymology available.

***Why can’t we call that grape leaf delicacy by one or other of these???
