Arpa
Although this item may be of linguistic nature, yet it is also of cultural nature. ---- See Tefarik and Postal here; http://hyeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=5301&hl=tefarik BTW. In that non-language “postal” means “boot” . I mean high shoe, which in Armenian is “muyk/ՄՈՅԿ“. Nevertheless see the English word and how it sounds in the Armenian. In that rotten sons of whores “culture” the word is used as a euphemism for “whore”. I have no idea where they got the word from, remember that in French the high shoe is known as “potine”” and in vulgar Italian “puttan/boutan” means whore. Note; I also found out why some womens’ shoes are called “stiletto” from the Italian to mean small/slender dagger. http://www.fotosearch.com/bigcomp.asp?path...4/1190R-284.jpg The Italian dictionary has “stivale”and “stivaletto” as a synonyms for boot. high heel boots Shoes Boots ... Stiletto Shoes History. The term stiletto heels owe its origin to the Italian 'stiletto dagger' which actually is a murderous long slender blade. … I had known that Stiletto meant Dagger I never made the connection to the shoe. http://www.medieval-weaponry.co.uk/acatalog/HW1221Close.jpg Edited July 31, 2009 by ArpA
