My Dear Hyeforum...

Why do you like Hyeforum?

Hyeforum was there for me at the time in my life where everything was going wrong. This is around the time that I got laid off from work. This was also around the time when I hate met this one guy but he had turned out to be racist, he hated Hayastansee Armenians and he was Lebanese Armenian  .

What does Hyeforum mean in your daily life as an Armenian?

Hyeforum has made me appreciate being Armenian. Tata was the only Armenian singer I knew.

How often do you visit Hyeforum, and could you stay away from Hyeforum for a week even if you had the time to visit it? Who'd even want to try that experiment? :P

I might not post here as much as I used to, but how ever I read it every morning from work and every chance I get at work. Shhhh don't tell my boss this. :D

What do you like about the members of Hyeforum?

The members have welcomed me with open arms to this forum from day one. They are all very nice, educated and family oriented people.

Do you have any fun memories you'd like to share from Hyeforum?

I have lots of fun memories but can't think of it right now. I'll get back with you on this.

How would you feel if you woke up tomorrow and Hyeforum was gone?

Then I would have to work more at work :o

Oooh, I just remembered some silly Hyeforum memories from some years back.

Hyegurl! Or Hyegurl section to be more precise :P

Remember the black box? How suddenly member after member decided to get Sasun's black box for an avatar? It was so confusing trying to differentiate the members since all "looked" the same :P

How about one time, through Movses' magic, we couldn't type each others' names correctly! That was truly silly :P

Baxti bermamb te patahmamb haytnveci Hyeforumum…

First couple of years that I was in US I was very much attached to Armenia…I woke up, went to work, where I was surrounded with people who had no connections with Yerevan I had in my heart…I’d mutely bite my lips listening to pointless remarks like “ekar prcar, mardiq lac en linum vor gan, isk du…” I’d come home, wait couple of hours until its morning in Yerevan, and start calling...17 minutes for $5…The lady who I was buying cards from, would not stop repeating “Ay bales mexq es, inch es edqan zangum”

My family here was very supportive, loving, caring…But something else was missing…After the second year…I started avoiding things that reminded me of MY Yerevan… I could not take it anymore…The corner of my heart that was once painful and bloody became numb…I didn’t want to answer calls when my friends called…I could not be a part of one world physically and mentally be part of a totally diverse one…I cut my diary into pieces…

After I started going to school again, I was introduced to Hyeforum…I was surprised to see thoughts and opinions that were so close to my heart (hogeharazat)…I don’t want to single out anyone, but there are people here who I look up to, respect very much, and would love to be friends with…After reading Aneta’s and Harut’s writings I (I can’t explain why) got the courage to post my “ankap xzbzocner”…I know that page looks like some kind of “tshvarr” corner…But its OK…What can I do…

About the question that Anushik asked if we can stay away from Hyeforum…Couple of months ago I asked Movses, and was banned for three weeks so I can finish up my midterms…I know its crazy…But I am trying to balance things up…

I think respecting each other is the most important thing here…and show respect to people who put their time and effort to make this place possible…we can disagree…but still respect each other…

I am so glad that Sulamita is back, and yesterday I saw SAS posted something…I remember once I was looking for Teryan’s “Qo achqeri dem im achqer@ Kuyr” u anhuys Google search areci, u indz berec Hyeforumi Teryani ej@ vor@ sksel er SAS-@...

Ardeen skseci Hayeren u Angleren xarnel…

I’ll stop here… I know it IS a long post…But you asked Anushik…

for sure. Arpa is awesome. yes he gets upset and tells people off at times, but I respect the man.

I know I would forget others(guess should have never mentioned names). Evelina, Armen, Sasun and SAS as well. I know Sasun and I had issues but he is a good guy and I respect him.

BTW: my great and fun memories involve the dinners and lunches we have had. The New Years dinner at Aneta, the dinner with Vava and Domino in Montreal, dinner with Sip and Vava, dinner with the whole group at Tama sushi, Lunch with a few at PF Chang, dinner with the group at yard house, Dinner with Armen in Yerevan, etc...

All right everyone :)

Like I stated somewhere else, 2007 is coming to an end. Time flies! To welcome 2008 in a positive light, let's take the time to reflect what we've experienced in our virtual, beloved Hyeforum, not only in 2007, but in general since we've been members. Some of us have been here since the beginning of Hyeforum, and some of us just joined a few days ago! Let's look back and remember the high points in Hyeforum, talk about memorable threads, and discuss what we can take away from Hyeforum thus far :)

Thoughts to consider:

Why do you like Hyeforum?

What does Hyeforum mean in your daily life as an Armenian?

How often do you visit Hyeforum, and could you stay away from Hyeforum for a week even if you had the time to visit it? Who'd even want to try that experiment? :P

What do you like about the members of Hyeforum?

Do you have any fun memories you'd like to share from Hyeforum?

How would you feel if you woke up tomorrow and Hyeforum was gone?

Let's make this into a positive and fun discussion! Feel free to come up with your own points of thought. But please, stay away from any negative thoughts or comments. This thread is meant only for positive thoughts and feelings :)

Anushik jan thank you for the topic on my Friend' HyeForum

Some of my best memories from last few years are from here ... and I definitely value a lot of friendships I have formed here. Unfortunately I have not had much foruming time in the last year or so but that might change in the future so I always try to at least step in and take a peek even if I don't have time to keep up with everything like I used to.

I'll try to dig up all the old Harut pics!

Great topic Anushik jan.

Let me first say why I joined the forum then later we can talk about the reasons why I am still here. Prior to joining the forum I would visit it on and off for about a year. At the time I was living in the east coast and did not have much connection to Armenian things and the forum was my way of keeping up on time of the stuff going around with other Armenians.

The thing that provoked me to join was an intellectual argument amongst 2 former members about the energy crisis we were having in California of the Grey Davis days, Alpha and Martin(MJ). Might I say I got a good lashing from martin but since those days I have gotten to know Martin much better and would stand by his side in support of him day in and day out.

Like today we had many great members and in my opinion the topics covered were of much more interest(to me). Movses, Nvard, Gayane, Aneta, you, Extra, Alpha, Pilaf, vava, Garik was a regular contributor, Raffi, Fadiushka was more of a contributor in those days, Maral, Sip and Harut were more active, Boghos and many more. As time has gone by the forum has evolved and so have the members. Some of us are more active and some of us due to work and life circumstances are less but it is still the best virtual home that many of us have.

This forum and the friends mean a lot to me. I have spent some of my happiest days here and I have spent some of my dark days here. Forum members were with me when my mom passed away and they have been with me when I have been having the time of my life. I have met many of you as you know and consider many of you as my friends.

I guess if I am forced to I can spend time away from here but why should I. I enjoy your company to stay away from this place for too long.

I do know one thing. If I were to wake up tomorrow and see this forum gone it would make me extremely sad. Movses has provided this great opportunity for all of us and we should all appreciate the time and money he has spent on this forum for all of us.

I hope that in 20-30 years when Im an old fart I can come here and still say hello to all my hyForum buddies.

--

Edit note: I knew I would forget smoe names. Ed and Rubo(I love them both) were also great contributors(Ed still is unfortunately Rubo is not as much).

Oops another one. Gamavor. how can one not love the guy?

Those are great words.

Hyeforum is the place I have contributed most, other forums have come and gone, this forum came and remained. All this thanks to MosJan and Garo and all those who makes this place fun to come.
