HAYKO TO REPRESENT ARMENIA IN EUROVISION 2007

In the Armenian national final it was decided that Hayko will represent the country in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Anytime you need. Both the televoters and the jury wanted the singer to be the second Armenian representative in the contest, www.eurovision.am reports. Hayko is a popular singer in Armenia. He has not only won several music festivals but he was also awarded 'best singer' in 2003 and 2006. In 2006 contest first-timer Andre representing Armenia with a song Without your love was the 8th, thus paving the way for Hayko directly to the 2007 final to take place in Helsinki May 12.

I agree, the music needs to be more lively to attract others but there is one important thing, every one is going to vote its own country, therefore we Armenians have to vote for Hayko as much as possible. Also representation and performance is vital, being self confident and a bit jovial could help. We Armenians think that being modest will help, but in terms of popular culture it doesn’t work very well. But LOTS IS DOWN TO US vote for Hayko please

I don’ն mind քաղցր ջան,

He uses the ideas of meschian but his style is more energetic. I don't think Harut is as popular as he used to be.

besides some armenians are centered only on a few singers and wtvr else u present to them is not worth them listening to it...and its funny most of these are focused either on harout or paul or spitakci hayko...

according to me...if we send harout out there at eurovision we'll make fools of ourselves, no matter how much armenians like him ... we gotta be realistic just because we like someone doesnt mean that hes the best to represent us at an "international" compteition...what harout lacks is professionality in the musical sense...most of his msuic is improvized and singers like him have a hard time giving concerts, and rather prefer throwin dance parties...

When taking part in Eurovision appearance is important as well, Harut has very typical Armenian attitude someone younger and more western style adopted needs to be there. That’s what people like, westerner's don't value traditions very much. I see Harut on the stage singing while he's high. Let not forget that Harut doesn't even live in Armenia

Guys I listen to a lot of Armenian music, and this song is really weak like Zartonk mentioned. I really wished... trullyyyyy I wished Silva Hakobyan could have represented us. Now I don't know the exact rules of Eurovision, and if the singer has to live in the country or not (I think Silva lives in LA, but I'm not sure), but she would have been the ideal candidate for me at least :) If not her, then Emmi. Both have shown that they can make it on the international stage, and both of them do not have major accents like our Eurovision singers Andre or Hayko.

Also another think I want to point out - I don't know if you pay attention to the lyrics or not, but the context for some of the songs does not make any sense for me. Go ahead and listen to the video again and pay attention to the lyrics. I just don't get why we don't have any good songwriters nowadays, and so what... instead of being Armenian lyrics they are English, we are still capable of writing in English! Hell, Silva's song won the BBC contest, so I'm sure we can pull off another winner :)

One more thing I want to add is that in last years contest, Russia's singer (I forgot his name) sang a song written BY ARMENIANS! I don't know the exact names of the composers, but if you look it up you can see. If I'm not mistaken, Russia also was higher than us in the standings... so why couldn't those composers have given the song to ARMENIA??? Cause maybe their Russian citizens, or maybe they don't associate with Armenia anymore? Whatever the reason may be, it should be otherwise.

Last thing, I don't know if you guys heard of Element band, but some of their songs are just awesome! From last years Eurovision, there were many countries which just sung in their own languages, disregarding English. I don't know how many of those countries did better than Armenia, but if there were a few, I wish a band like Element could also have a bid for next years Eurovision (then again... I don't know the exact rules for people who can qualify if they live outside the country :( ).

You guys still don't get it, do you?

Eurovision is the biggest joke ever invented in Europe!

Another thing with Eurovision is: you win, you host. Now ask yourselves if Armenia is ready to host Eurovision before you pick up your phones and vote for Armenia just because you think you're doing your patriotic selves a favor.

Is that a question? of course it could, have you been to Armenia recently? I guess whoever decided that Armenia could give it a go in participating in Eurovision was clever enough and ready in case we won.

Come on Emmis voice doesn't come out of her throat, she can't sing, its not only performing well, we don't want to be mocked. The girl of H.A.Y.Q. could be good, she is good looking, she has very nice voice and she performs without any boundaries. I think she would be ideal. (does she live in Armenia?) Its not the case of living in Armenia in order to participate, a lot is written and imagine if someone had to come from LA to represent Armenia, it would mean that in the entire Armenia there is no one to represent the country and we are in need of someone who lives in LA. The issue of accent is not a big deal, almost all the participant have accent. No on gives a bullocks to that.

Suzi is not in LA shis in Armenia

accent

?

no need to sing in English - you can sing Armenian or even mumble / it will be fine it's Euro-vision - you can even invent a new Language and still qualify for singing - American Idol has stricter rolls than Euro-vision

i say we send 7 duduk players to EV - at list i will enjoy the Dle YAman / or our national anthem

Not a bad idea at all, by the time they finish playing the entire audience will be asleep. :D

I'm glad you trust the Armenian government and maffia that much. See, I don't even think there are enough good quality hotels in Armenia to fit over 50,000 people at a time. And that's just starting with the practical side of the matter.

Every [Western] European says this yet they all watch the horrendous program and even throw Eurovision parties. :D

I agree with you though, about Armenia hosting Eurovision. It would be dreadful. I'm still surprised Armenia managed to compete before Georgia and Azerbaijan since they are both doing better economically.

It would be great if you could explain what the mafia has to do with EV. I don't trust them at all, but in this context I don't even see the need to trust them. You don't need to fit every participant in the same hotel and to add something else the luxurious hotels that now exist in Armenia cannot be found in many countries.

Armenia chose their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 using a national final that consisted of two semi-finals and a final, which took place on 25 February 2007. Hayko was selected by the jury to represent Armenia with the song "Anytime You Need". Although the decision was entirely up to the jury, a televote was held with Hayko being the victor. The song was written and composed by Hayko and Karen Kavaleryan.

Armenia is directly qualified to the final in Helsinki on 12 May 2007. In the final, Hayko will perform second last in the 23rd position following and preceding a country that must qualify from the semi-final on 10 May 2007.

So far, I think Georgia is the only country, along with perhaps Hungary, that truly deserved to get through the semi-finals. And to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia scores very high tonight.

The Bulgarian song is written by the same guy who wrote Hayko's song. Atrociously bad, but the singer is supposed to be cute (not my style, but I can see all those deprived East Block chicks turning him into a chippendale).
