kilmj
What is the difference when nation is being massacred or being assimilated? I think the second one is worst. What is your opinion in this issue? Studies showed that during the history 7 time more Armenian people completely lost their identity & disappeared as Armenians through assimilation than they been killed during all the wars & genocides combined. What percentage of 7 million Armenians living abroad will stay Armenian (I mean real Armenian, not just the names) in next 25, 50 or 100 years? I think we are loosing the biggest war in our history without a battle by living in other countries. Me, personally, after 15 years living in the USA (Los Angeles) even by having a good carrier, job, own house, decided & acutely moving back to Armenia (my wife & 3 kids already went there last month & I am leaving in a few days). I do not want to be a cause of the END (disappearance) of my generation ( blood) & its identity. Good luck for others. Good Bless Armenia. (I am trying to create a website (www.WelcomeToArmenia.com) to help & to guide those who want to Visit or to Move to Armenia.)
Arpa
What is the difference when nation is being massacred or being assimilated? I think the second one is worst. What is your opinion in this issue? ==== (I am trying to create a website (www.WelcomeToArmenia.com) to help & to guide those who want to Visit or to Move to Armenia.) Excellent site. Wher do you live? Have you moved to Kamo or Artashat yet? It is so reminiscent of the 1946-s when the agents of repatriation would urge the poor and dispossessed to board the boats of immigration when they would hide behind evry rock, find every excuse not to, and enetually migrate to France and America. Assimilation? Please define. It seem like natives of Yerevan are more sssimilated, if only by proxy. Given the chance there will not be even one Armenian left in Yerevan Parovince. It is commendable that you are creating a site inviting us to VISIT. How about create a site to make the natives STAY. We have been making fun of the Azeris' project of building a wall. How about build a wall around Yerevan Province(I use that term to differentiate modern Armenia from the historic). A wall, even if a wall of gold, with a one way door- IN that will keep them, with enough incentives, and encourage them to stay there rather than get OUT. And then we wonder how it is that we lost 90% of our lands. Emigration??? How many emigre Glendale-ian is even considering to go back rather than try and find ways to bring their entire "clan/tribe" over? We emigrate and the Turk immigrates. Who knows this song? Or we can all join and sing KROONK. Arpa
Dear kilmj, may I respectfully suggest that you remove the FOOD section from your otherwise excellent site, unless of course you have a way of replacing those disgusting Turkish names of our delicious dishes with our sacred language. When did dolma, sarma, basterma and kaklama become Armenian WORDS? When did the Armenians have an Imam? I better stop here before I throw up all over my keyboard. Turks are doing an excellent job of anti-Armenian propaganda . They don’t need us to promote their disgusting language. Please, please, once again. This is not about those delicious Armenian dishes. We are talking about language and their Turkish names. And please, let us not talk baout the Genocide from one side of the mouth and eat (linguistically speaking) "turkish" dishes from other side. gamavor
Congrats on the site Kilmj. Job well done! You raise a valid question and the answer lies with the Armenian government. More and more Diaspora Armenians will get interested in Armenia only when and if Armenia gets closer to the West. However, it is two way process in my opionion. The responsibility of the Armenian political class is to adopt rules and regulations that are closer to the western standards, and the responsibility of the Diaspora is to make sure that Armenia can survive, develop and grow on its on. kilmj
Hi kilmj, If it is not a huge secret, may I ask if you have plans for a career in Armenia and what it will be? Also, are you selling off all of your US assets? I have a bachelor degree from Armenia & from USA. I have more than 12 years work experience from large US companies such as Universal Studios, DremWorks, H&R Blocks, CCH & other. I know Armenian, English & Russian. I also have good computer skills. Combining all these I hop I will soon find a decent job. I already print out some large companies’ information, which are going business in Armenia, so I’ll try with them firs. However, I will prefer to involve in Real Estate business & specialize on buyers/investors from foreign countries. All of those are just plans, I may do absolutely different thing which I never even thought about, like when all of us (Armenians) when we came to USA or other countries did not know what we are going to work, or we came with “BIG” working or business plans, with end up doing something very different. Anyway, to make it short, work is not important, important that I am going to be in the right place, in my motherland, in my homeland, in my home, that my greatens will stay Armenians & I will feel like an Owner, not like a foreigner or tourist. And, whatever I’ll work or do, I’ll do for my people, for my country, not for …………….. Also with my example I’ll create a doubt on those people’s thinking, who have sickness (diseases) to leave Armenia & go anywhere (but not in Armenia) in the World. Yes, I sold everything (not too much) that I had in USA (actually nobody have anything in US, everything belong to banks, government & to Credit card companies), so I will never (God first) look behind. Thanks for your question.
Boghos
Dear kilmj, Best of luck in your return to Armenia. As to your question: being massacred is far worse than being assimilated.
