‘Armenia’s New President is a Murderer’

ANKARA - Yenicag, Turkish daily, reports that the Armenian voters preferred a murder as President of the country:

Sarkissian controls all armed forces and at the same time a good businessman. He has very good relations with the Armenian diaspora as well.”

“Armenia has a murderer president and it is expected that Mr. Sarkissian will follow similar policies to previous President Kocharian. It is expected that Armenia will continue to occupy Azerbaijani territories in his period.

New President Sarkissian was the first responsible commander in Hocali Massacre and he order his militants to kill women, children and old people in Hocali. Hocali was a 10.000-people town and about 1.300 of Hocali people were killed by the armed Armenian forces under Sarkissian command.”

 

The previous Armenian President Robert Kocharian was also Artsax veteran and responsible for many murders in the Artsax region of Azerbaijan.

Armenia Constitutional Court rejects opposition suit

 

YEREVAN, March 8 (Reuters) - The Armenian Constitutional Court on Saturday rejected opposition claims last month's presidential vote was rigged and stood by the verdict of the country's central election commission.

 

Outgoing President Robert Kocharyan declared a state of emergency in Yerevan on March 1 after eight people were killed in clashes between police and protesters who said the election was fixed to deny the opposition a victory.

 

President-elect Serzh Sarksyan, who won 53 percent of the vote, defended the emergency laws as necessary. His rival, former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who won 21.5 percent, filed a suit to the Constitutional Court.

 

The Court confirmed there were violations during the vote and asked prosecutors to investigate. The Court said in a statement the violations did not provide enough evidence to question the election result. (Reporting by Hasmik Mkrtchan, writing by Gleb Bryanski)

 

Armenian Court Rejects Election Appeal

 

YEREVAN, Armenia (AP) — An Armenian court on Saturday rejected an opposition candidate's appeal of the country's disputed presidential election, the outcome of which has led to deadly clashes between protesters and police.

 

Election officials announced that Prime Minister Serge Sarkisian won the Feb. 19 election, but opponent Levon Ter-Petrosian appealed to Armenia's Constitutional Court, claiming fraud.

 

On Saturday, the high court noted there were some violations in the election but said they did not affect the results.

 

Supporters of Ter-Petrosian, Armenia's first president following the Soviet collapse, staged days of protests after the results were announced. Last Saturday, the government declared a 20-day state of emergency when clashes with police left eight people dead and more than 100 injured.

 

The bloodshed was the worst political crisis to hit this strategically located, volatile former Soviet republic in nearly a decade.

 

It was unclear what Ter-Petrosian plans to do in response to the court's ruling, though he has vowed to call new protests after the state of emergency is lifted in coming weeks.

 

Arman Musinian, spokesman for Ter-Petrosian, had no immediate comment on the ruling.

 

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, meanwhile, released an update to its observers' report on the election that noted "implausibly high voter turnout" at some polling stations. It also said the vote count at large percentage of stations to be flawed or having "significant procedural errors."

 

The observer mission had issued a generally positive assessment of the vote just after the election.

 

Armenia's Foreign Ministry responded to the OSCE report by saying "appropriate steps" had been taken to address some violations, but asserted that the observers erred by using unverified data and suggested the report lacked objectivity.

Women Demonstrate In Yerevan

 

Defying a state of emergency, more than two dozen women marched in Yerevan on Saturday to pay their respects to at least eight people killed in the March 1 clashes between security forces and supporters of opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosian.

 

The protest was timed to coincide with International Women’s Day, which is marked as a public holiday in Armenia.

 

Police urged the women clad in black to disperse but avoided using force. The 20-day state of emergency declared by President Robert Kocharian bans all public gatherings in the capital.

 

Escorted by dozens of police officers, the small crowd walked down a street in central Yerevan where riot police fought pitched battles with thousands of Ter-Petrosian supporters demanding a rerun of Armenia’s disputed presidential election. The protesters tied black ribbons and white carnations to trees lining the street.

 

They then stopped by a nearby church and prayed for the dead before proceeding to a major street intersection outside the Yerevan municipality where tens of thousands of people barricaded themselves on March 1. Police allowed some of the protesters to lay flowers at a podium from which Ter-Petrosian’s associates addressed the crowd.

 

“It’s been seven days since the massacre,” one young woman told RFE/RL. “We have gathered to pray for their souls.”

 

“We came out so that they know that it is not easy to demoralize us,” said another. “We will keep coming out even if they kill us.”

 

Several other protesters said their sons and other family members are among at least 60 opposition activists and supporters arrested by the authorities following the deadly clashes. “They beat up and jailed my son,” said one of them. “He is now facing three to six years in prison for chanting ‘Levon!’”

 

Another elderly woman said her son was set free after spending one day in police custody. “I am very proud of my boy,” she said.

So his dad was kicked out of Syria for treason? WOW! I thought they returned to Armenia just like a big wave of Middle Eastern Armenians did back in 1940s. I guess treason and working as double agent against his own people anywhere runs through that starting from his grandfather! The fact that Jewish women marry non-Jewish men (their kids will be Jewish anyways) in order to in help that non-Jew advance in his career, especially in politics, is not new at all. That happened so many times.
