AZERI DEFENSE MINISTRY PRESS SECRETARY: “IF WE FEEL THERE IS NO HOPE, WE WILL BEGIN WAR”

17.03.2005 06:07

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ “The land is just about to escape from under Armenia’s feed,” Head of the Press Service of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan Ramiz Melikov told 525 Baku newspaper. In his opinion, the correlation of the power at the international arena is changing in the favor of Azerbaijan. At the same time he noted that the potential of the talks is not used up yet. “If we feel there is not hope, we will begin a war,” R. Melikov promised. Having accused the Armenian party in breaking the truce, the Press Secretary stated, “on the whole the success of the Azeri diplomacy in the matter of solving the Artsax conflict makes Armenians angry and tense.” As a result they try to demonstrate power and thus influence the talks, R. Melikov noted, reminding the PACE resolution adopted in January. “I think its second cause is connected with approaching April, when Armenians will mark the 90-th anniversary of the genocide.” They get a psychosis this time each year, “the Armenian disease,” known from medicine and inherent only in Armenians, exacerbates. Armenians want to demonstrate their power to the Azeri people and state. However, it is senseless,” the Press Secretary stated. Referring to some military experts, Ramiz Melikov added “the activation of Armenians at the Aghdam and Terter directions is due to the front line lying close to Stepanakert at these stretches.” “They expect danger at those segments and thus fire upon the positions of the Azeri army, try to take control of the strategic heights,” Melikov stated, adding “today all crucial heights at the Aghdam and Terter directions are unfortunately keeps by Armenians.”

The Azeris are all bark and no bite. Even during the Soviet days, we were always the ones doing the fighting while these tatar mogoloids were behind the 5th lines chewing seeds. How many generals did Artsakh give to the Soviet Union?, i'm not even mentioning Armenia, just artsakh. In any case, if the Azeris do go through with their suicidal plans, then you know i wouldn't mind going to rest near the caspian sea during the summer(as it will be under Armenian rule).

There is only one way for a real settlement of the Artsax conflict – integration. It is toward this end that the two liberated peoples guided by democratic values should move, if only because there is no alternative to coexistence and peace, or because the alternative - war – does not bode well for our peoples. All of the militaristic statements now coming from official Baku and Yerevan serve only to prolong of the power of our undemocratic leaders and have no connection to the dream of the two neighboring peoples to live in peace and prosperity.

In line with my self-imposed moratorium on offering wisdom, and lack of time, I will only offer an unflattering generalization in response to this article and the one about orthography in another thread. It seems that the "thinkers" in/from RoA that have the ability to be published are breathtakingly unintelligent and basically have a silly understanding of history, governance, statehood, and most bafflingly, our own history and character. The louder they are, the more pedestrian their "revolutionary" thinking. It must be malnourishment or something.

Not that we have any real thinkers in the "west" to compare them with. So where does that leave us? Perhaps "integration" is deserved after all, for reasons entirely different from those concocted by the author, and probably explained in Jared Diamond's latest book, which I still haven't had time to read.
