Stormig
That is very cool. I actually have this dream where I win the lottery, quit my job, and can fund my own world travels and I start out in the Balkans, go over the north of the Black Sea, then down south between the Black Sea and the Caspian, then through Iran onto Bactria, doing a Silk Road, eventually reaching the Yellow Sea. The Balkan-Caucasus leg would require the equine equivalent of an SUV, which ought to be the Kabardin. (Feel free to google for it.) For a while after that it should require a camel or another horse suitable for the climate/terrain in question. All that would last many, many months and would be carried out with my signature purple hat. I'll figure out the details when I win the lottery. Maybe I'll decide it's crazy and too ageing then and do something else.
Nakharar
You named all the places where I would never even set foot in one go. In the Balkans only Croatia is an exception. Next week I'll be going to Greece and Bulgaria for the first time along with another country. I can't wait to see what Greece is like. Stormig
Ah, what I mentioned is the dream of a lifetime for me. In the Balkans, Kossovo, Serbia, and Montenegro interest me the most.

It is almost like cote d'azur, but more beautiful. The bad news is that criminal Anglo-Saxons have bought almost everything valuable in the region taking advantage of stupid Croatians. Bakersfieldian
You didn't think they could take advantage of the smart one's, do you??? Oh wait a minute......... You said Croatians. Never mind. Stormig
I know who I envy more among either someone who slacks around in a chaise-longue on a beach or that Chinese guy on National Geographic Channel who goes after Marco Polo's steps - whatever the program was called. I mentioned it a lot of times in the past as well. I have been to Croatia and absolutely love that place. The landscape, the towns and islands are magnificent. It's my favourite country together with Portugal. It's definitely the best country on the Mediterranean and I have been to almost all of them. Nakharar
I remember visiting the border area to Yugoslavia near Dubrovnik. The Croatians really have a sense of humor. They had signs at the border like: "This Is Where Civilisation Ends" "Welcome to the Black Hole of Europe" I thought it was brilliant.
