I just wanted to know how long does it take to acquire citizenship?

It should take no more than 2 weeks to acquire a citizenship.

 

Since I will be working in Armenia and living there, do I still have to pay taxes and do tax returns towards the U.S?

What's wrong with the army? Why is it because of brutality and chances I might become a "dedovshina".

It's your choice if you want to serve in the army, you need to decide - if you are coming to Armenia to work then my suggestion is to get a residency card and leave the dual citizenship aside, if you are coming here to serve for 2 years then go to work, we're all ok with it. No there is no brutality in the army if you mind your own business, there is no cleaning toilets either, just as long as you mind your own business and don't shove the nose wherever it won't shine! :-)

 

Extra feedback re: army, right now we are at the edge of a war, there are only few factors holding us back from attacking - if things continue to progress the way they are, it won't be long 'till we hit hard. There is no such thing as brutality against a soldier from it's officers unless the soldier feels he is the all mighty one and starts shoving his nose where he shouldn't - this is when he get's it the hard way! There is also the factor that soldiers don't get along with one another, this is also due to the fact that they want show their toughness - in this case you would have to keep your head high, if necessary fight back. There is nothing wrong with this picture, after all army is just another school every guy has to pass and in reality there is no school where you won't find a hyena.

Have no worries, my father uses inhalers and he is here in Armenia for the past 3 years has no issues of finding what's needed. No they don't have to be prescribed you can walk into the pharmacy and buy a inhaler that you need, if not the same brand then something equivalent. Make sure you bring one or two with you so you can show the pharmacist - leave the rest to them. Also ask them to give you quality stuff and not the cheap stuff. Inhalers are usually under 5 dollars in here, depending and what exactly you need.

I have an active U.S passport, I don't have any debts, taxes already filed, and all my bank accounts are closed. Good then you know when you go back you won't have to face consequences!

 

I am pretty much left with my passport and currency. This means you won't have to worry about importing and exporting car, housewares, etc...

 

I want to buy a one way ticket to Armenia. Anyways, how do I move? Do I simply get on a plane and go? Or should I get some sort of visa? No visa required for US Citizen to enter Armenia, if one is required you will be able to acquire it in the airport, things are very simple nowadays. Just hop on the plane and welcome aboard.

 

I plan on working in Armenia, so I think I would need a work visa. Can I get a work visa in Armenia, or any other documents. When you come to Armenia all you have to do is register here and get let's call it your permanent residency card, with this you can apply for ssn number. Will take you only 5 days.

 

Can I apply for citizenship while living with my aunt in Armenia or do I have to do it at the D.C embassy? Do not - I repeat do not think of this for the next 10 years. 1 - you don't want to loose your US Citizenship, so you would have to apply for dual citizenship - meaning you can have US passport and Armenian passport. 2 - if you become a dual citizen this does not mean you won't have to serve in the army. So think twice on this, if you want to serve for the army for 2 years then go ahead and get you dual citizenship!

 

Another thing, I live with my mom right now and I haven't told her my plans. I know she won't take it well at all, same thing with everyone else. How do I explain to my family that I want to live there? I see it as my future home and I am dead serious on that. This one is tough - you would nee to sit down and explain to her your way, I don't think there is anyone in this world that can understand the relation between you and your mom better then yourself. So think how you would tell her, number one thing is not to get her mad, if she get's mad from the first conversation keep it short move it on to another time, repeat this step until she hears you out completely calm. You won't get anywhere if you fight with her ;-)

I personally think that anti-Armenian posts should be ignored and left alone, have the night take over it...

Too late for any terms to be changed, even if the constitution is changed and allows for the president to be on the throne for 3 terms, it will have to be applied to the next coming president... in any case there is no real leader in Armenia, no one will do what they say they will do, sad but true :-(

The European Union has called for an investigation in an incident in which an Armenian military helicopter, belonging to the armed forces of the self-declared Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, was shot down by Azerbaijan. A statement issued by the European External Action Service (EEAS) said "it is essential that all sides show restraint and avoid any actions or statements which could escalate the situation. Furthermore, we call for an investigation into this incident."

In its' statement the European Union reiterated its full support to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group and the three Co-Chairs. It said both sides have to strictly respect the ceasefire, to refrain from the use of force or any threat thereof, and to resume efforts towards a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict."

On their part, the three co-Chairman of the OSCE Minsk Process also issued a statement following the incident. Ambassadors Igor Popov of the Russian Federation, James Warlick of the United States, and Pierre Andrieu of France expressed their very serious concern about the downing of a helicopter near the Line of Contact and the recent violence. "We regret the loss of life and express our condolences to the families", they said in their statement

The Co-Chairs are deeply worried by the events that prompted this drastic incident, the first of its kind since the ceasefire agreement was reached. Their statement added, "We strongly appeal to the sides to avoid steps that would escalate tension along the Line of Contact and Armenia-Azerbaijan border. The region cannot afford another round of violence like we witnessed this summer. Today's events remind us of the volatility of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the urgency to intensify efforts to find a lasting settlement. We remain resolved to assist the sides in any way possible. We remind the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan of their responsibilities to respect the ceasefire and honour the commitments they made in Sochi, Newport, and Paris to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict. We also encourage them to adopt confidence-building measures now that would increase transparency along the Line of Contact and the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, and reduce the likelihood of events like today's incident."

According to media reports two Armenian helicopters approached the Azerbaijani side of the line of contact whilst participating in military manoevres that have been going on for the last days. One of the helicopters was shot down and the other escaped. Azerbaijan has confirmed it shot down the Armenian helicopter 1700 meters north-east of Kangarli village (Aghdam region). This is the first time that an aircraft has been shot down in the Karabakh conflict zone since the cease fire came into force twenty years ago. A statement by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said that the Azerbaijani forces shot down the helicopter whilst responding to its fire. The Azerbaijani Defence Minister in the meantime has said that the soldier who shot down the helicopter has been given a medal.

According to Armenian sources "The helicopter was shot down on Wednesday at around 1:45pm, and as a result of ceasefire violation by the Azerbaijani armed forces. The helicopter was shot during a training flight in the airspace of the eastern sector of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan border. The location where the helicopter was shot at is very close to the Line of Contact."

Armenian Defense Minister press secretary, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that "the Azerbaijani accusations that the Armenian helicopters had launched an attack on Azerbaijani positions are mindless, since an examination of the pieces of the helicopter's debris will confirm that it was not armed".

What does he mean when he says "ONE DAY COME TO LIGHT?" the history is out there, they just need to reach and grab... not like the history is under our pillows and some day we might take it out to make them be ashamed, they should already be ashamed, makes me go crazy how people think and act nowadays.
