The reason I ask is because the idea of reincarnation has always puzzled me. How many "souls" are there? There can't be infinite number of souls, right? Have reincarnations taken place throughout the human history? And what about now? There are over 6 billion people, where did they come from? If the souls of these billions of people has always existed where were they before?

Sasun, I didn't create this thread to specifically show that Sri Chinmoy may be a cult. This wasn't my intention. Regarding Sri Chinmoy: I have no real opinions of him. I haven't read much about him - only visited his site, which seems nice. I still believe that his sayings are inspiring, even though I think that he's just repeating the teachings of many thousand of years of spiritual leaders before him. Like I said to you before it's great that you've found the spirituality that you were looking for and this world is starting to make some sense to you. I have yet to find it, but I don't think I'll find it in spirituality. The reason I became interested in looking into mind control and cults is when Domino pointed out the accusations against Sri Chinmoy. I didn't know that there was such a thing as a Sri Chinmoy Center, where his disciples are living according to a strict lifestyle. And reading from one site to the other I finally came to this last one, which I posted. It is pretty sad when you look at the number of cults, or possible cults. You start to realize that how alone the human being really is, no matter how many billions of humans there are around. Each one of us came into this world alone and will leave alone, and we spent our lives looking for the person who could maybe share our lonely existance with us and maybe, just maybe, we won't feel so lost after all.

Domino, there is a black Armenian kid who was adopted by an Armenian woman who lives in Armenia. They show him often on the Armenian television. He speaks Armenian and he is completely surrounded by Armenians, so I guess he is Armenian. I was wondering... If he marries in the future to a black girl, who was also adopted by Armenian parents and spent all her life in Armenia, and they have a black child, will this child be an Armenian? Now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense that the kid will be considered an Armenian, especially if this family lives in Armenia. But still, aren't they also black? What do you think?

Is this the best you can do? Define Armenian culture. ... As far as I can see Armenians are not so much different from the rest of the Europeans culturally, and if we get more into it we realize that Armenians are exactly like the rest of the humans on this Earth. What is it about the Armenian culture that distinguishes us from other "cultures"?

What makes Armenians unique is that we have preserved our genealogy as much as we can, and while I'm not saying that you and I have the same exact "blood" as our ancestors 6,000 years ago, we still are closer to our ancestors then the rest of our European cousins.

It gets really tricky when we start talking about people with mixed nationalities. I think in the case of the Turks, their mixed genes as a whole makes them Turks. Of course, they differ from the Americans who have mixed European genes. So I don't want you to think that everyone with very mixed genes is a Turk.

Domino, my genealogy makes me an Armenian. Are you going to tell me that there is no difference in the genetic makeup between an Armenian and, let's say, a Chinese?

Domino, what is a German? What is a French? What is a Vietnamese? It all has to do with their ancestry and not the language. In the U.S. you have people who list all their ancestry, like part German, French, English, Chinese, Italian, etc. because it has to do with their "blood" and not their language. Most can only speak English.

Thanks Edward, that song is one of my favorites, but it seems like everytime I listen to it I'm overcome with sadness. Maybe this song reminds me how unfair this world is. Life is already so much full with mystery and awe that I doubt life would be boring without wars and greed and intolerance.

An Armenian is a person with an Armenian descent, regardless whether he speaks Armenian or not.
