And my response was total ignorance. http://hyeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=7281&pid=175284&st=0entry175284Here at #62 I wrote the following;http://hyeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=15940&st=60From ArmatakanԾՕ«ա՜յ տղայ, ո՜վ դու»** (արական կոչական ձայնարկութիւն) ծօ կամ ծօլա. ունին Մագ. քեր. 242 եւ Երզն. քեր. Arpa
ARA HO!! No. This is not Comedistan, neither it is funny. It is not about Ara Geghetsik or Ara B either. No, it does not mean the imperative tense -take-arra as the latter is spelled with the letter RA. Even if on the surface it may sound funny it is serious. See below story; Anyone here know the meaning and implications of ARA, and why it has led to such a violent outburst? CRIMINAL CONSEQUENCES OF THE PHRASE 'ARA' Factinfo Sun, 01/06/2013 - 23:51 The Court of first instance of Ararat and Vayots Dzor marzes is reviewing the case of brawl among comrades-in-arms, which shows how intolerable the young people are towards each other everywhere, as well as in army. The cause of the brawl was the phrase 'ara' of the comrade-in- arms. It seems like making a mountain out of molehill. Luckily it didn't lead to incorrigible consequences. Thus, A. Gevorgyan, a common soldier is accused of organizing the brawl with his comrade-in-arms, A. Harutyunyan in order to get some clarifications on the phrase 'ara', said by the latter. The defendant fisted and punched different parts of A. Hayrapetyan's body and also beat with the stool the head of A. Avetyan, the other common soldier who was trying to prevent the incident. In the result, A. Gevorgyan impaired health of the latter. In the result of interventions of the comrades-in-arms the brawl continued in the bedroom area, where A. Gevorgyan beat A. Hayrapetyan, as well as stroke with a belt other comrades-in arms: A. Andrikyan, Sh. Hambardzumyan and the forehead of A. Vardanyan, impairing health with scratches. In his turn, A. Hayrapetyan is accused of brawling with the comrade-in-arms A. Gevorgyan, a common soldier with the purpose to get some clarifications regarding the phrase 'ara' during which he punched A. Gevorgyan causing mild harm to his health with short-term decay. At first the case was reviewed in the court of Ararat and Vayots Dzor marzes, presided by the judge Khachik Hovhannisyan but because of the judges' death the composition of the court has changed and the case was sent to the same court under the proceedings of the judge Gagik Sargsyan. Trials are carried out. Ara; http://shamshyan.com/arm/l1gqerJYem.html If at the time I did not expand and elaborate enough and explain. Then let me add. ARA derives from AY TGHA, abbreviated to AY TA,/AY DA, further changed to A RA (Ask Mosjan how the letter R is meant to sound like GH, and visa versa). Basically, as always I am talking to myself as our friends from Yerevan will not tell us what ARA means on the streets of Yerevan and why it is so insulting to lead to a bloody brawl. In other words it is similar to the American slang HEY YOU! I had never stopped to think about the use of ara by some of our friends. When I posted the above by Ajarian I did not go far enough. Getting back to ara It is assumed to be of Georgian origin ծուլի , տոլա , ծօլա originally meaning son/որդի/տղայ Here is how it ends up as ara, from այ տղայ to ատ ա and eventually «արա». In other words ara means ԾՕ. Remember that in some dialects they use «լատղայ/ լա տղոյ» which ends up as լատօ/lato, and finally as lao/Լաօ. Arpa
Curses and more curses. Why am I still hitting my head against a rock attempting to write in Armenian? How stupid am I? :Why did my above post that I spent hours editing, re-editing and editing again, applying HTML, de-applying and re-applying again end up as such gibberish? Why do I break my own rules to not post in Armenian again, and rather write in Slavo-Latin characters like many of our friends do?What the **** does br> mean?----In addition to the above where according to the Gospel by MosJan R=GH and visa versa, where agha becomes ara and ara becomes agha.In Tehran friends address one another as AGHA-(ye.) Just like in Bourj Hamoud friend greet each other as AGA/dzo, aga/aga lan). Agha/aghbar? Hi Yervant! **** Note, In Beirut, mostly those of Adana origin use the term AGA most, Edited January 8, 2013 by Arpa
Yervant1
I'll apply the HTML let's see what happens. OK I think those br-s are extra brackets between the lines that is why you have spaces. One other think I have in mind is that may be your computer is old and it's not matching with the new versions or could be your browser doing it. By no means I'm knowledgeable in this I'm just trying to help and get others, who know better to give advise. It is about time you stop covering up and justify this FIASCO of a "new and improved system" and join the rest of us to ptotest to whom it may concern. It is time that you and others stop editing and re-editing posts by the likes of Ani etc to make it legible.I yearn for the days when we could write in Armenian and other languages without any contortions and aceobatics. Yet, then again WHO CARES? No one is writing or reading Armenian anyway.
Arpa
I have shot my mouth for too long.As Hamlet would say- "The Rest Is Silence".I would like to hear the opinions and suggestions of our cyber-geeks like Azat, Harut, Sip et al, who btw have been silent for quite sometime.I would also like to see Garo and Yervant write a paragraph in Armenian.
