Arpa
ԹՈՆԻՐ Tandur/tand@r In another thread we were talking about Cheese Bread Banderoom Hootz http://hyeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=38382&page=3&do=findComment&comment=308277 Where I said, the addition of letter D Banir/Panir is like when we add the letter D to Սանր/Sandr/comb, and Ծանր/dzandr /heavy. This brings us to ԹՈՆԻՐ/Tonir. Contrary to my assumption that it is from the Sanskrit/Indian, according to the Armatakan it is of Assyrian origin, from which many have adopted. Armenian, Persian, all the way to East and West , even way to France and Spain via the Arabic Al-thanor.. My assumption was based on the fact, at an Indian restaurant the most common word is tandur/tanduri/tandoori ** http://www.nayiri.com/imagedDictionaryBrowser.jsp?dictionaryId=7&pageNumber=901 ԹՈՆԻՐ ԹՈՆԻՐ ԼԱՒԱՇ http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.tinekevangeel.nl/site/images_content/armenia_info_2008/Baking%20of%20lavash%20bread%20in%20the%20tonir..jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.tinekevangeel.nl/site/seminar_armenia_info.html&h=200&w=300&sz=15&tbnid=AJBwAVrQFGo_KM:&tbnh=89&tbnw=134&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dtonir%2Bpictures%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=tonir+pictures&usg=__UOozkhuiZ3tiGbJpc6EKoX8LQfw=&docid=I5lGRUzy6EzAYM&sa=X&ei=QbUCUpCDMa7l4AOG7YDoDw&ved=0CD8Q9QEwBQ&dur=2213 ** Tandoor http://www.tandoor-india.com/ Edited August 7, 2013 by Arpa
