The Libyan interim government officially adopted in March a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide, addresslibya.com reported.

According to the country's Foreign Ministry , the interim government announced on Thursday that the country will commemorate the Armenian Genocide, committed by the Imperial Government of Turkey’s Ottoman Empire.

Addresslibya.com noted that in 24 April 1915, Ottoman authorities rounded up, arrested, and deported from Constantinople (now Istanbul) to the region of Ankara, 235 to 270 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders, the majority of whom were eventually murdered. This was followed by the deportation of women, children, the elderly, and the infirm on death marches leading to the Syrian Desert. Driven forward by military escorts, the deportees were deprived of food and water and subjected to periodic robbery, rape, and massacre. The final death toll of the genocide is reported to be 1.5 million.

Libya’s Movement to Peace condemns Turkey’s “aggressive interference”

21 April، 2019 Nationalnews 171 Views

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

TRIPOLI – Libya’s Movement to Peace, a non-governmental organization, released a statement on Saturday addressed to Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in which they condemned “in the strongest terms” his country’s “aggressive interference” in Libya, especially its support for designated terrorist organizations such as the Muslim Brotherhood.

Libya’s Movement to Peace stated that Turkey’s interference in Libya’s affairs constitutes a violation of the international law and had caused major damages to the country, noting that such interference reminds Libyans of the Ottoman colonialist era.

The organization warned Erdoğan that his support for terrorist groups would have repercussions on his own country as these groups will turn against him one day.

The organization stressed that anyone who violated the law in Libya would “pay a heavy price” and that the Libyan National Army (LNA) will respond “at the right time”.

Libya’s Movement to Peace concluded by urging the Turkish President to changes his policy in Libya during what is left in his time in office in order to avoid “serious consequences”.

Turkish warships arrive off the shores of Misurata and Tripoli

16 April، 2019 InternationalLNANationalnewsPoliticsTerrorism 254 Views

The Address | Benghazi – Libya

Turkish warships arrived off the coast of Libya, specif?ically off the shores of the cities of Tripoli and Misurata in western Libya, CNN reported.

According to CNN, these warships are (TCSG UMUT) and (TCSG YASAM), the first was departed from the port of Marmara in northern Turkey, while the second out of the port of Mersin in the south of the country.

The two warships have now reached 78 nautical miles near Libyan territorial waters.

While some Turkish officials have stated that the task of these warships is to “fight drug trafficking,” several Libyan activists questioned the authenticity of the Turkish narrative.

“The Turkish warplanes only came to support the armed groups fighting with the government of Fayez al-Sarraj in Tripoli against the Libyan National Army,” activists believe.
