Today 4/1/07 is April Fools’ Day. It is also Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter.
Most everyone understandably calls this day Palm Sunday. We may be the only people that call it ԾԱՂԿԱԶԱՐԴ. Let’s see why.

ՊԱՏՄԱԿԱՆ ՀԱՅԱՍՏԱՆԻ ՍՐԲԱԳՈՐԾՎԱԾ ԱՆՏԱՌՆԵՐԸ
Անհիշելի ժամանակներից սերնդե սերունդ փոխանցվել է ծառի պաշտամունքը։
Հատուկ տոներ են եղել, որոնք ժողովուրդը Ծաղկազարդ կամ Ծառազարդ է անվանել։
Ծաղկազարդի տոնը, որը գալիս է հեթանոսական շրջանից և մեր ժողովրդի մոտ հայտնի է Ծառազարդ անունով, կապված է ծառի պաշտամունքի հետ։ Ծաղկազարդի օրերին եկեղեցում օրհնված ծառի ոստերը տուն էին բերում, խնամքով պահում որպես հմայություն։ Այդ ավանդույթը ժողովրդի մոտ պահվել է և մինչև մեր օրերը։ Իր ժամանակին սովորություն էր նաև Ծաղկազարդի օրը եկեղեցում ծառ զարդարելը, որից մնացել են մի քանի ավանդություններ: Այսպես օրինակ, նախապես առնելով աղջկա ծնողների համաձայնությունը, տղայի մայրը կամ մի մոտ ազգական կին, Ծաղկազարդի ծառի վրա վառվող մոմերից վառելով մի մոմ, որի վրա մատանի էր անցկացված լինում, տանում և լռելյայն տալիս էր իր ուզած աղջկան, և այդ աղջիկը համարվում էր նշանված։
Ծառի պաշտամունքը համարվել է բնության կենդանության և վերապրումի նվիրագործումն ու սրբագործումը։ Ծառի մասին խոսվում է նաև Հին Կտակարանում՝ «Կենաց ծառ», «Գիտության ծառ»։
Տարբեր ժողովուրդների մոտ, տարբեր ծառեր են սրբագործվել։ Ասենք, հնդիկները՝ թզենին, փյունիկեցիները՝ մայրին1, Հռոմում՝ կաղնին, Հունաստանում՝ դափնին ու ձիթենին և այլն։ Հույները դափնին և ձիթենին համարել են

իմաստնության, խաղաղության և փառքի խորհրդանիշ։ Օլիմպիական խաղերի ժամանակ հաղթողներին դափնու և ձիթենու պսակներ էին շնորհում։
Հայերը սրբագործել են սոսին և բարդին։ Սոսիի մասին հիշատակում է Մովսես Խորենացին։ Նա գրում է, որ Արա Գեղեցիկի մահից հետո մնում է նրա որդին՝ Անուշավանը, որին անվանում էին Սոսանվեր, որովհետև նա նվիրված էր Արմավիրում գտնվող Սոսյաց անտառին, որը պաշտամունքի վայր էր։
Այդ անտառում աճել են սոսիներ։ Սոսի ծառը հայ ժողովրդի մոտ հայտնի է նաև չինար անունով։ Ի դեպ, թե մեկը, թե մյուսը ժամանակի ընթացքում դարձել են անձնանուններ։ Առաջինը՝ արական, Սոս ձևով, երկրորդը՝ իգական, Չինար ձևով։
Սոսին հայերի մոտ հեթանոսական շրջանում համարվել է նվիրական և պաշտելի ծառ, որի անտառում հմայություն էին անում, ունկնդրելով ծառերի սոսափյունին։ Սոսյաց անտառի նվիրյալ դյուցազունն էր համարվում մեր նահապետներից մեկը՝ Անուշավանը և կրում էր Սոսանվեր մակդիրը։
Նվաճողները կտրատել և ոչնչացրել են այդ հոյակապ պուրակը, այնպես, որ Սոսյաց անտառից լոկ անունն է մնացել։
Ինչ վերաբերում է բարդի ծառին, ապա Ներսես Շնորհալու «Թուղթ ընդհանրական»–ից տեղեկանում ենք, որ արևորդիք1 Սամոսատում մեծարում էին բարդին։
Անտառի կամ ծառի պաշտամունքին անդրադարձել են նաև մեր պատմաբանները, որոնք խոսում են այն մասին, որ մեր նախնիները Ատիս աստվածուհու տոնին նվիրված օրը, առավոտյան վաղ, արևից առաջ գնում էին սրբազան անտառ և ծիսակատարությամբ ծառից պոկում մի ճյուղ։ Ծառը զարդարում էին շորի պատառիկներով, ճյուղերից

կախում էին հովվական ցուպ, սրինգ, թմբուկ, որոնք համարվում էրն Ատիսի խորհրդանիշներ։
Անտառի պաշտամունքի հետ են կապված խոր անտառ ներում, հեթանոսանան մեհյանների կառուցումը։ Այդ ավանդույթը շարունակվեց նաև քրիստոնեական շրջանում։ Հիշենք Տաճար մայրիի («Անտառի տաճար») եկեղեցին Խոսրովի անտառում։ Ի դեպ, Խոսրովի անտառը ներկայումս ներգրավված է համանուն արգելավայրի սահմաններում և գտնվում է Արարատի շրջանում։ Հիշատակության արժանի են նաև Հաղարծինն ու Մակարավանքը, որոնք գտնվում են Իջևանի շրջանում։ Առաջինը տեղադրված է Դիլիջանի զովասուն անտառում, երկրորդը՝ Իջևանի։
Ծառի պաշտամունքը եղել է նաև մոտ անցյալում: Պատանեկան տարիներից հիշողությանս մեջ մնացել են այն մենավոր ծառերը (Բագրևանդի գավառ), որոնց մոտ ճամփորդները կանգ էին առնում, կտրում երեխաների կամ իրենց հագուստից մի կտոր, թեկուզ մի թել և կապում այդ ծառերին։
Հույները իրենց դիցաբանության մեջ ունեին ծառաստանների աստված, որը կոչվում էր Վերտումոս։ Նա դիցաբանության մեջ պատկերվում էր երիտասարդի կերպարանքով, այգեգործի դանակով և ձեռքին մրգով լի մի զամբյուղ:

Շորհակալութիւն Արբաին որ մեզ հրամցուց այս Ծաղկազարդի հաճելի օրով մեր Հայկական պատմական եւ աւանդական գեղեցիկ ներմուծումն ու հիշեցումը:

Գալով մեր ամեհի եւ օգտաշատ Հայաստանի Բարդիներուն տեսնենք ինչպէս կը ներկայացնէ մեր անմահական Վարուժանը:

Լույսն Աստղիկին, դողդոչելով,

Մեկն իր երգը երբ որ թողու՝
Մյուսն իր շունչով կ՚ավարտե զայն:

Մըրրիկներուն մեչ հերարձակ
Գըրկըված, խոր, կը հեծեծեն:
Եվ կը բըզզան լուսնակին տակ
Բ՚եթակներու պես լուսեղեն:

Հարսըս ու ես անոնց կըռթնած,
Կը նստինք հոն, ամեն գիշեր:
Տերեւներն հար կ՚երգեն հուզված
Ա՛յն՝ որ կը զգանք ու չենք հիշեր:

Մազերն անոր՝ երբ մազերուս
Խառնել կու գա հանկարծ քամին՝
Զույգ բարտիները սիրասույզ
Աստղերուն մեչ կը համբուրվի՜ն:

I was in Surp-Hripsimeh church in Echmiatsin on palm Sunday, It was a very moving experiance

Yes, sireli Movses. That day is not to weep and mourn, but to celebrate. On that day we don't talk about bastards like muskaka kakal kakaJewrk either.
Yes, I know that day is a day of celebration, not commiseration. That may be why to me, always, as far as I can remember April 24 has not been one of my favorite dates.

Arpa jan after St-Hripsimeh I went to Surp-Gayaneh church where "xent" and along with many others "maxluto" are barried, maxluto Smbat Boroyan, Smbat Pasha! took picktures, the reason I cant post any pics is the connection here in Jermuk so slow it took me 5 minutes to get Hyeforum page, next week I'll be in Yerevan!

Jermuk is untoched by modern times, cristeen air and skyes, simply a magic=land, I'm staying at Armenia sanatorium which is owned by Jermuk Group, doc assigned me to drink 35c spring miniral Jermuk, and Thank God the spring is near the Hotel colon cleasing is very fast


on Sunday Ara Abrahamian is comming from Mascow for easter and people here promis to take me there, Noravak, Tomarow my young frind Aram is comming from Yerevan, lets see if we can go to Artsax.

thats all for now, the chances are I'll be comming back here in June with my son who is comming for "study abroud program" for collage courses, sponsered by our own Dr. Levon Marashlian.

Yerevan is som poluted, so much construction is going on, no air to bread, emaging come augost it will be very hard.

on our way to Gyumri we stoped in Ashtarak for lunch, took some pics with Aram, and near Talin the hills were all covered with fresh snow, winter is seteled so hard this year in Armenia, I axpect a good Harvest (tsiran) in late july
