MONTSERRAT CABALLE TO SING IN NAGORNO-KARABAKH TO MARK 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF TRUCE

YEREVAN, October 13. / ARKA /. The famous Spanish operatic soprano
Montserrat Caballe has arrived in Nagorno-Karabakh Republic to sing
a unique concert dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the truce in
the Karabakh conflict zone. The concert will take place October 14
at Revival Square in Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh.

She will conduct also a master class for young operatic singers at
Stepanakert Musical College and will be received by Nagorno-Karabakh
president Bako Sahakyan and the head of the Karabakh Diocese of the
Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan.

Caballe has arrived in Artsakh (the Armenian name of Nagorno-Karabakh)
together with her family, a Spanish tenor and an accompanist. The
visit was organized by Karabakh ministry of culture and youth affairs
and Starmus Company. The general sponsor of the concert is Converse
Bank. The sponsor is Afina Pallada Company.

Montserrat Caballe first visited Artsakh in June 2013. In 2013 December
Paris hosted a presentation of her album called "Armenia, Artsakh:
an island of Christianity." In Paris the famous singer promised to
come to Artsakh again. Immediately after the visit she was declared
by Azerbaijan as persona non grata.

"I will be back to Artsakh in order to sing for you. In your small
but strong country, I will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the
armistice. I hope to meet you in Stepanakert, to see old friends and
sing for them for the sake of peace and prosperity of Artsakh,.

Montserrat Caballe wrote in a letter to President Bako Sahakyan.

Montserrat Caballe was born in 1933 in Barcelona. She is considered
one of the best operatic sopranos of the 20th century. In 1974 Caballe
was named an honorary ambassador of the United Nations, in 1991 as
ambassador of peace and since 1994 she has been UNESCO's goodwill
ambassador. -0-

MONTSERRAT CABALLE PERFORMS IN STEPANAKERT

On 14 October Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan was present
at the concert of the world-famous opera singer Montserrat Caballe
held at the Stepanakert Revival Square.

Bako Sahakyan noted that Montserrat Caballe has her unique place
in Artsakh's life and has made a substantial contribution to the
development of culture in the country, which the President qualified
among the best manifestation of sincere friendship and humanity.

Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church
Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, prime-minsiter Ara Haroutyunyan and
other officials were present at the event.

We read somewhere that she had sung Krounk by Komitas.
Is there an audio-video of it?

We read somewhere that she had sun Krounk by Komitas. Is there ab audio-video of it?
When did Montserrat discover Aemenia and Artsakh?
Is she a hidden Basque??? :goof: Armenian?
