May be looted! Who knows? I think an Armenian museum should get involved for the purchase or the church.

This is reminiscent of the times 1970-80? when artifacts and relics from the Jerusalem Comvent Sb. Hakob were being auctioned somewhere in Texas?
At the time some said that they knew who the thief was. A high ranking clergy?

Extremely rare Armenian manuscript book of Narekatsi put up for Internet auction

16:50 - 10.08.13

An extremely rare manuscript of Grigor Narekatsi, an Armenian monk,
poet, mystical philosopher and theologian, has been put up for the
eBay auction, the starting price being $30,000.

Director of the Armenian Institute of Ancient Manuscripts
(Matenadaran) Hrach Tamrazyan told Tert.am that the Armenian side is
now verifying the information.

`We are always interested in such information and, if we can, acquire
valuable manuscripts. We have recently found two of Narekatsi's
manuscripts,' Tamrazyan said.

The deadline for the sale of the ancient Armenian manuscript is August 26.

Dear Mos, which Sb. Hakob are you talking about?
See above that the talk is about the Sb. Hakob of Jerusalem. How and where did the Georgians/Vratsis come into the picture? Are you talking about the Sb. Hakob of Akori?

PS. Do you read anything I write? That is since dolma?

HISTORICAL ARMENIAN CROSS VALUED AT $70,000 ON EBAY

10:21 15.08.13

A sacred cross that once belonged to the St. Karapet Monastery of
Mush has been valued at 70.000 US Dollars on eBay.

The sellers have described the item as a rare sample of Armenian cross.

The sacred piece is offered for 2 380 000 Russian Rubles ($
3,163,279.91) on the Russian bidding website Bay.ru. The cross,
which is 38 cm long and weighs 488 grams, dates from 1761-1771.

A manuscript by Grigor Narekatsi, a 10th century Armenian poet and
theologian, was recently auctioned online for a starting price
of $30,000. Director of the Matenadaran (repository of ancient
Manuscripts) Hrach Tamrazyan said in later comments to Tert.am that
they were trying to verify the report, as well as the identity of
the person who had placed the bid.

ARMENIAN MANUSCRIPTS STILL WAITING BUYER ON EBAY

12:34 20.08.13

The valuable manuscript by Grigor Narekatsi, which was earlier reported
to have been put up to an online auction, has not yet found its buyer
on eBay.

Speaking to Tert.am, Director of the Matenadaran (repository of
ancient manuscript) Hrach Tamrazyan said they expect more news in
this connection in the nearest future.

Asked whether their institution may buy the piece (offered for
$30,000), Tamrazyan noted that they first need to consider the real
value before making a decision.

"It is hard to form any idea judging by the pictures. We have to see
manuscript in its real form. And we'll make a decision afterwards,"
he answered.

Matenadaran acquired more than 1,500 manuscripts in past 5 years

Thanks to benefactors, Matenadaran - Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts acquired more than 1,500 manuscripts in the past 5 years.

“This is a good number, and it allows us to open a separate Matenadaran,” Hrachya Tamrazyan, director of the Institute, told Panorama.am.

Hundreds of manuscripts are kept in foreign countries and Matenadaran works to acquire them, Tamrazyan added.

‘Narek’ manuscript put up for auction on eBay has been bought by Russian Armenian Arthur Janibekyan and will be presented to Matenadaran in 10-15 days, Tamrazyan said. The manuscript’s starting price was USD 30,000.
