TURKISH PARLIAMENT SPEAKER URGES CRIMEA TO CANCEL RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

Speaker of the Parliament Cemil Cicek during his official visit to
Ukraine, the Crimea, met with the leaders of the autonomy and the
Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People. The speaker among other issues
voices the necessity for cancellation of the Crimean parliament's
resolution of 2005 recognizing the Armenian Genocide, Analitika.at.ua
reports.
The initiator of the resolution's adoption Sergey Shuvaynikov told
15-minutes website that the demands of the Turkish authorities are
groundless. He thinks that the Armenian Genocide must be recognized
alongside with Holodomor, Ukraine, and Stalin's repressions in Russia.
The parliament does not doubt that the Supreme Rada of the Crimea will
cancel the resolution. "This will be disrespect for the big Armenian
Diaspora of the Crimea," he said,
