MARCH 16, 1921

Copyright, 1921, by The New York Times Company.
Special Cable to THE NEW YORK TIMES.
BERLIN, March 13, --Tallaat *****, former Grand Vizir of Turkey and one of the three leaders of the Young Turk movement, was assassinated here today.

He was walking in a street in a western suburb with his wife when a young man who had been following overtook them and, tapping Talaat on the shoulder, pretended to claim acquaintance with him. Then, drawing a revolver, the man shot Talaat through the head and with a second shot wounded the wife. Talaat fell to the pavement, killed instantly.

The deed was witnessed by many passersby, who seized the assassin, beat him and had almost lynched him when the police intervened. In broken German the murderer said to the police: "We are both foreigners. This has nothing to do with you."

He was eventually identified as an Armenian student, and it is assumed that the deed was an act of revenge for the massacres of his compatriots.

Talaat, whose name was on the second Entente list of Turkey was criminals left Constantinople two years ago and had been living as a fugitive ever since under assumed names, first in Switzerland and later in Germany. He evidently feared the fate which has now overtaken him, for he had frequently changed his address in Berlin and at the time of his death was living at a pension in the West End.

Yes, his name was Soghomon TeHlirian. Note the H in his surname. As to the L and GH, I wrote about this some time ago. In short, the Latin and Semitic L becomes GH in Armenian, the reason? I will elaborate again if necessary, consider words like "imiele/miel" in Latin and French that becomes "meghr" (honey) in Armenian.
And if you have the time read the following;
Thank you Raffi K of Cilicia.com.

a new Turkish government found
him and the other leaders guilty of the charge of massacres against Arme-
nians during court-martial proceedings in Istanbul. Talaat and the
leading figures were already in Europe; no government in Europe was
willing to bring them to justice. ‘Whether seen as the implementation of
the death penalty imposed in absentia by the Turkish government against
Talaat or an execution by one in the name of a murdered nation the act
of Tehlirian on March 15, 1921 in Berlin and his subsequent trial on June
23, 1921 were seen as acts of justice.

The assassination of Talaat was the first in a series of such acts of
justice against the organizers of the Genocide. It was preceeded only by
the execution of Khan Khoyski, prime minister and minister of foreign
affairs of Merbaijan; the act was committed by Aram Yerganian and
Misak Garabedian in the spring of 1920 in Tiflis. Khan Khoyski was,
along with his minister of interior Jivanshir, responsible for the
massacres of Armenians in Baku. On July 19, 1921 Misak Torlakian
brought to justice Jivanshir in Constantinople. In December of the same

Organization” that was in charge of the execution of the Genocide.
Three months later, Stepan Dzaghigian assassinated Jemal *****, the

Soghomon Tehlirian and Misak Torlakian were apprehended and tried
publicly in Berlin and Rome, respectively. Both were acquitted.

The governments of all European countries, and the United States condemned the Genocide of Armenians. Henry Morgenthau, the US Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, wrote: "...the whole history of the human race contains no such horrible episode as this. The great massacres and persecutions of the past seem almost insignificant when compared to the sufferings of the Armenian race in 1915."
The Ittihad Cabinet resigned in October 1918. The triumvirs and other leaders of the Young Turks fled the country. They later were convicted by different courts-martial. Enver, Talat, Gemal and Nazim were sentenced to death by default. Kemal Bey, responsible for Yozgat massacres, was publicly hanged. Rashid Bey, governor of Dyarbekir, committed suicide. Other culprits of massacres were sentenced to different terms of imprisonment. Some of them were later released; others fled to join the army of Mustafa Kemal. However, the Genocide of Armenians was never officially recognized and condemned by the Turkish government. Even now, the Turkish authorities continue to deny the fact of the Genocide.
Talat-*****, one of main designers of the Genocide, was assassinated in 1921 in Berlin by Soghomon Tehlirian.
Enver-***** also fell from an Armenian in 1922 in a battle in Tajikistan.
Gemal-***** was assassinated in 1922 in Tiflis by an Armenian Tzagikian.
Gemal Azmi, former governor of Trabzon and Beahaddin Shakir, one of the Genocide's propagandists were both assassinated in 1922 in Berlin.

Yes, he was one of the greatest heroes of all time.
