OBSERVATIONS
*****************************
When business gets involved in the arts, artists prostitute their art to please businessmen. Show me an artist who enjoys the support of a benefactor and I will show you a charlatan.
The same applies to artists who enjoy the support of regimes and political parties.
It is not easy introducing meaning into an absurd world that has made of us perennial victims.
What I find intriguing to the point of fascination is the astonishing ease with which people end up believing in their own lies.
Nothing can be as visible to others and invisible to oneself as self-infatuation.
If Gandhi is right, even the most dehumanized and cowardly liar and dupe retains within him a divine spark. To those who insult and reject me, I say: I don’t write for you but for the human being buried inside you. I write for the tiny spark buried beneath layers of lies, prejudices, illusions and fears.
