I'm having trouble with safe mode. when i start safe mode the desktop goes blank. I tried manually starting explorer from task manager as new task. the desktop appears for a second and then it goes black again. Explorer appears in the process list and then disapears. I've no idea what's causing expoerer.exe to disappear in safe mode. Any ideas?

btw every time i manually start explorer, it seems that the desktop icon's remain in the cache. since it takes them less time to refresh.
